Default 09 to 11 in less than two years!

Hey guys and gals. July 09 my DH bought me an 09 Chicane Yellow 370z for my 50th birthday.

Late last month I was t-boned by some other 'old lady' who was not looking where she was going and who never slowed down. Last night I was finally told my sweet baby is totaled and this weekend I'm going shopping. I am heartsick.

I don't know anyone else who owns a 370 who can tell me what I need to watch out for when buying an 11 model. I found this site by searching for 'problems.' I hate that I have to be here, but glad I found other enthusiasts!

Actually, a 2011 Z will be marginally better than a 2009, although you can no longer get one in Chicane Yellow.

I don't think their issues are any different, though. Brakes and Oil can overheat in hard driving, the paint quality and protection is subpar. And it's still a very fun car to drive!!!

Welcome aboard! Glad you were able to eventually find us, lots of good information here.

I don't think there are any new problems created for the 2011's, but they didn't really fix many of the old problems either. They did add the in-cabin air filter for the 2010 model year (the 09's had the holder but no filter installed).

sorry to hear that your Z was totaled but very cool to know that you are going back to the Z... hopefully insurance will cover all the difference etc..

The '11 Z does have a wiper for the back, and a rear view camera if you care for either of those things...

It has a rear wiper? I haven't seen that. I know that foreign Z's do. Japanese Z's do.

Yeah, beware of people who constantly b1tch about every little thing that this car isn't (or ever will be).

Other than that, it's a great car for the money. And, if looked after properly, won't give you "most" of the problems and issues that many on these forums complain about.

(was that my outside voice?)

Your outside voice has had quite the workout lately... not that I can blame you.

Are you located in AZ? I know it says California in your profile, but saw the AZ in your screen name and had to ask.

Oh and welcome to the forum!

I agree that the car is brilliant, but that being said, it has its flaws like every car does. I just don't think the 2011's issues are vastly different from the ones we beat to death on here about the '09 and '10 models.

This is a great place to be! Glad you finally found it.

Too bad about the Z, yellow was a great color and you cant get it now. The 2011 does fix a lot of the issues from previous models and if you get navigation, it includes the rearview camera, bluetooth and is easier to update, from the '09. Glad I am getting into the '11. Good luck with your purchase! They are getting hard to find!

I know the overseas versions have the rear wiper, but the US model doesn't.
