Not sure about the long term effects, but the engine can accept E10. It will burn faster since it's rated at 95 octane. I started using it in my 2008 Chevy Malibu and haven't had any issues.

We are not in the US. Most Germans do not even know what E10 is. There are campaigns to AVOID this fuel as they claim it does more harm then good. All the station here now have signs saying to check your car before pumping the gas as it can cause irreversible damage to your engine. This is the first time it has been sold here in Germany.
Now, having been using fuel in Germany, that is clearly marked 5% 90 OCT, (lowest grade you can buy) and filling up with E10 95 OCT, I have noticed a increase in my fuel usage by at least 50km on 50 liters of fuel. |

Anything the oil companies can do to lessen the quality of the fuel while charging more seems to be the order of the day. |

Yeah the US has been stuck with E10 for quite a while, gas mileage suffers as a result and older cars suffer damage to rubber seals, gaskets and lines. The ethanol also tends to absorb water which is bad for cars that sit for long periods of time. The is also talk of raising the US standard to E15 or even E20 which would do even more damage.
If you can still get pure petrol in Europe take it while you can get it. Europe 98 RON = US 93 AKI Europe 95 RON = US 90/91 AKI
