Exactly what do you do for MB? Why don't you drive one of the cars from the "best automotive brand in the world?" I'm really not talking BAD about any car company, but lets remember what we are discussing here. Hyundai. In case you have forgot, it's the same company that brought you these. Seriously, look at the Gen Coupes heritage. I'm not here to argue that the car isn't well equipped. Sure it is. If options is more important than quality. What is the old saying... Quality before Quantity? That is certainly a matter of opinion. Quote:

I'm not trying to be a d*ck here, I just want you to see why these cars are so different. If you don't care about owning a quality sports car that has more than 40 years of heritage, built and designed by one of the most innovative and motorsport-oriented companies in the world than that is fine. But don't complain when I say the Genesis has a garbage gear box. Quote:

Ummm No... no it will not and not even close. I traded in my 08 Civic Si Coupe with all the bolt-ons and I wouldn't be any where close to the 3.8. It'll beat the 2.0T though... Quote:

Let's get back on topic, I hope this thread doesn't degenerate into a "bash Hyundai/prop Nissan" argument.
First off: Quote:
For OP, I'll need to add oil consumption was also listed as a problem in the past, but I haven't heard it crop up lately. Probably the only thing you may miss coming from a Gen Coupe would be the back seats. Quote:
And finally: Quote:
Merry Christmas to you and everyone else as well!

On the sideline
Just like several other posters on this thread, I am looking at both of these cars for my next vehicle purchase. What a tough choice! The main differentiators / pros and cons for me are: GenCoupe has back seat, better LSD, probably cheaper to insure (any input on this?), no oil overheating issues, probably easier to negotiate price at dealership BUT has HUGE transmission problems that still don't have an official fix, will definitely have/want to mod it way more that the Z to feel happy with it (right off the bat will have to buy coilovers, wheels, tranny bushings and quick-shifter and possibly swap the engine/tranny mounts) that will make the dealer give me a hard time if I ever need work done under warranty. Lastly... sorry but it is a Hyundai... there is no other car made by this company that I would've ever though about buying and unfortunately the first thought that comes to most people mind when they hear this brand is "cheap"
Now for the 370Z: True sportscar, proven long-time reliability (i plan on keeping whichever car I buy next for a long time - so please chime in if I'm wrong) and plenty of time to work out all the little details since Nissan has extensive experience building sportscars and the fact that this model is based on the 350z. Complete set of features of what I want in a car on the base model + sport package save some minor things easily done aftermarket. And now for the cons: NO BACK SEAT! This could be a deal breaker and the biggest compromise for me... oil temp issue and cheap LSD, lower residual value than the GenCoupe?? (Not sure about that). Honorable mention: if I can hold off on the purchase for a while, the Toyota/Subaru/scion FT86 would be another option, but a lot is still uncertain about it so we'll see... One thing is for sure, after writing this post the 370z seems like to better option of the two IMHO. By the way, Im looking at getting either a 2011 3.8 R-Spec (or maybe Track?) or a 2010 Base+SportPkg 370z but If I could afford it, without a doubt the car I would get is a Black 10' NISMO 370z |

370Z>350ZHR>Genesis3.8>350ZDE>Genesis2.0T
That about sums it up for me, hope you find the info you are looking for. DAN
