why did you get rid of the genesis?
that car hs probably THE hottest rear end I've seen you'll get a 100hp bump from the genesis to the Z and power everywhere unlike Turbo engines (I come from a wrx) don't know how the genesis handles but the the Z comes with invisible tracks that follow you everywhere just like a train so when you take turns it goes where you want it to go |

My friend has the 2010 3.8 Genesis Base
He has full boltons and a tune and it's alright But the Z takes of the gen everyday [:< Idk he has the auto so maybe manual sucks...

Good luck with finding your new car. It's too bad you didn't seem to enjoy the Genesis Coupe that much... How did your interior get worn out so badly? Mine looks new at 25k miles..
Mind if I share the thread with your car? Genesis vs tree - Genesis Forum: GenCoupe Hyundai Genesis Forums @TypeOne stop lying... |

Who's lying? I'm a member of Gencoupe.com as well... search my name. I joined 10-2008, before the car was even in showrooms because I was set on getting one. I read the forums all the time and when the day came for me to drive a 3.8 Track, I left the dealership pissed off because of how disappointed I was. I know why I didn't buy one... because it seemed like it was cheaply made and the gearbox is garbage. Everyone has their own opinions about it and honestly the best choice I made was to NOT buy a Gen Coupe, wait 2 more years an buy the car I really wanted. The 370Z. |

One of the many things I like about the Z is it seems to be a much more mature group of owners. The only derogatory remarks I have seen on this forum come from owners of other vehicles...hmmm

I actually just joined today and I should have introduced myself first but I was browsing the newbies and ran across this one, I'm debating between the two cars, but I seem to be leaning more towards the 370z. The gen does have some nice appeal to it but I seem to like the Z a lot more when it comes to performance wise and the fact that its been around a lot longer than the genesis makes me lean towards it as well. Congrats on the Z by the way!

I really respect what Hyundai is doing with their cars now a days, they are really bumping their image but they still have a lot to learn in the process.
Nissan has been making some of the most legendary cars for a long time now. |

I joined this forum about a year ago because I was looking to get a 370Z. Requirements for my car were 2-door Coupe, manual tranny, superb performance and handling, great styling and comfort.
The Gen Coupe was always on the radar. After laying down all the pros and cons of each, the Gen Coupe came out on top because of my driving style and what I needed it for. I was looking for a Daily Driver, and I thought the Z was going to be a little overkill for my commute to and from work. I work for Mercedes-Benz and since I am in the auto business, I ONLY lease cars. The lease on a Gen Coupe versus a Z was leaps and bounds better. Hyundai's Residual and MF was just too good to pass up. Even getting both cars at triple-net. On any rate, I got the 3.8 6-Speed Track Edition with the Brembos, LSD, HID, Nav, and all the bells and whistles. Performance wise, I knew the Z was better but the value of the Hyundai was literally like a b*tch slap the in the face of the Z. If I were going to track the car, I'd take the Z hands down. For every day use, you're not beating the Gen Coupe and what the car offers. I have not had single problem with the car. No tranny issues whatsoever. Agreed that the 2.0T is slow as a dog, but the 3.8 offers fantastic performance and styling. It's a satisfaction knowing that I'm still faster than 95% of the cars on the road. I'm used to 500+ HP AMG missles (with the exception of our C63 AMG with only 451-HP) and the Gen Coupe is quick. I'll always be a fan of the Z, but some of you who bash it because it's a Hyundai seriously need to get out more. I work for the best automotive brand in the world in MB, and my co-workers don't even question me why I drive a Hyundai anymore. In fact, I frown when anybody talks bad about another company. I guesss... to each their own. Last edited by Ghetto2315; 12-24-2010 at 10:06 AM. |

I've driven the 3.8 track a few times and the grand touring once. The power on the 6cyl gen is great. The problem is the crappy tranny doesn't deliver the hp well. The interior quality I think is good. Remember. The price point of the 3.8 is 27.5k and its still a fully equipped model at base. (2011 models)
The 370 is the superior performing car because where nissan put most of its money. Hyundai was trying to build a performance value. A more well rounded car of features and performance. A fully blown gen is 34k and a fully blown Z is 44k. That's 10 grand up top. That's alota cake but yet the gen has all the same features for less. Does the Z do it better? Hell yeah... it better for 10,000 smacks... The Z is a full performance package. To get sport brakes on the Z you must pay 34.5k and that's without leather. That's nearly $7k difference in price from the R-spec. The z gets you a superior engine transmission and suspension. The interior of a base Z and an Rspec are not far off in quality though the Z has a design edge. Lastly wheelbase and backseats make these cars different animals. For those comparing these 2 cars like they cost the same are ridiculous. Hyundai has its issues. I knew there was going to be tranny issues when hyundai asked Zf to make generic parts for the hyundai issue tranny. But 2012 new trannies are coming. That's how the car biz is... especiallially with 1st year Sports cars. I can understand why the op has buyers remorse but he would have those issues with any brand new year one car. Those buyers are basically crash test dummies. But like all car companies, the gen is destined to get better. Its an excellent first attempt at a real sports coupe. |
