Not a Z owner... Yet.
Yep, as the title says I don't yet own a Z but I plan to within the next year. Wanted to join up on the forums to mainly read but I've realized that I've wanted to post in some threads and didn't want them to be my first post.
I'm from Huntsville, AL. and currently drive an 2004 Dodge SRT-4 Neon. I plan to keep it as a 4 door 4 person car... but I am ready for something else. I sat in a 370z at the Chicago Auto Show back in 09 and I loved it. Since then I have swapped back and forth with which car I planned on buying [I always like to have a plan] and well... Here I am... going for the Z. I plan to pick up a used Pearl White. Sport package and manual transmission are a must... Touring is a want if I could find one in the price range that I'm shooting for. With all that being said.. I'm looking forward to read/learning/being apart of the forum. Here is a picture of the neon if anyone cares. |

Yea, they can be stupid fast... but I just don't enjoy FWD anymore. Mine has the Mopar Stage 3 kit [upgrades the turbo, ecu, and fuel system], 3in o2 housing, 3in down pipe w/ electric cutout before the high flow cat... and 2.5in Mopar Catback. And then some suspension stuff with CO's and sway bars. I still like the car.. but its getting on up there at 115k miles. Back in 06 I hydroplanned and had a wreck in it messing the front up... got it repaired and fixed, but ever since that I have just not liked it as much. Add to that I absolutely hate black cars now, I mean... they look beautiful for the hour after you clean them... but then its game over. |

Do have a question for anyone else that may wonder into this thread... Has anyone ridden in an SRT-4?
One of my biggest concerns is that I don't want an exhaust like the SRT had.. I want something quieter when just cruising... but to really waken up when you get into the throttle. I guess my question to those who have ever ridden in an SRT-4 is how is an aftermarket 370z exhaust compared to the SRT you rode in? |

Welcome to the boards. The Z will be a huge leap forward in terms of generally everything (except, maybe, power).
Regarding the exhaust, the Z, while it's one of the louder cars on the road (in terms of road noise) the exhaust is very quiet. You don't hear it while cruising but you can hear it when you get on it. If you find the stock exhaust is too quiet and want something a little louder when you get on it then you might want to check out the NISMO cat back. It's generally very quiet and civil but it's a little louder and deeper when you do get on it.

Its probably going to be pretty quiet to me.. the SRT-4's are loud.. and mine is a pretty rough ride. I think the hardest thing for me to decide on with the Z will be what exhaust to go with. |
