Has Anyone Here Switched Over From a G37 to a 370?
Hey everyone! I have been following your forum for about a week, and I just officially joined.
A little bit about myself: I had a 6 MT (Diamond Graphite/ Black Interior) G35 between 2004-2008, and from 2008-present I have been driving a 5 AT G37s (Platinum Graphite/ Black Interior). I'm a bit traditional so that's why both cars so similar and basically the same exact color combo. I love Infinitis and Nissans, and I want to possibly purchase/ lease a 370z 6 MT in these next coming months. Has anyone here switched over from a G37 to a 370z? I know that both engine specs are virtually identical, however, the Z is more or less 400 lbs. lighter. Is the Z driving experience much more fulfilling than a G37s 5AT? I have really enjoyed my G37, but I have to say that after 6 months if began to feel sluggish. Does anyone here think that the difference between the G37 and 370z is so small that it would feel like driving just a slightly smaller version of my current car? Thanks for any input. Btw, I am looking into a Z Touring w/ Sport Package & Navi, and I will most likely keep it stock. |

I can say that I test drove a g37 before I bought the 370z and i was not impressed with the feel of it when compared to the 370. They are basically the same vehicle with one being focused more toward comfort and luxury and the other toward performance.

I had a G35C and also test drove the G37 and was not impressed. Test drove the 370Z and bought it a week later.

Thoughts After Test Drive
Ok so I finally got to test drive the 6MT 370 touring/sport today, and here are some of my thoughts of the Z in comparison to my G37.
First and foremost, the Z is not only smaller, but the headroom seems to be much less than in the G. I am 6'3" and I felt just a bit cramped in the Z, at least until I declined the seat to the maximum position. Not a big deal, but does anyone else have a similar issue, or does it just take a bit of adjustment? Second, Nissan did a great job upgrading the interior from the 350, and I would say the interior is on par with the 37. I love the gauge and dial colors on both cars. The colors in the Z are more menacing, whereas, the indigo/ purple in the G seems more relaxing. However, I wish there was a sunroof... Not a big deal again, but just my 2 cents. Third, the exhaust on the Z seems even meaner than on the G! I can only imagine that it will open up even more, since this Z only had ~1600 miles on it. So beautiful... music to my ears. Fourth, the actual test drive ... HOLY S**T!! I was initially worried about the cars having virtually the same engine hp/tq output, but they seem totally different! I never thought that my G would feel like a luxury cruiser! The Z made my G feel like a Lexus. The synchrorev is unreal, and I have never driven a car that feels quite like this. The "pull" is definitely much more pronounced in this car, and you get a nice push back into your seat. The suspension is much tighter on the Z, even with the sports package on my 37 and I love the sound inside the cabin. It definitely gives you the feeling of a true sports car. In my G, I feel low-key driving, with the occasional rush of adrenaline. However, I think the Z makes you want to burn the road at every moment !! (within reason of course) In conclusion, I could have written much more in depth, but I am positive that you have already read tons of these reviews before. I look forward to getting my finances in order and joining your community soon. My G35 and G37 have both been silver with black interior, so I would like a different setup. I love the Persimmon interior, so I will couple that with either Pearl White or Magnetic Black. Thanks for reading!! |

The gf has a G37 that i drive all the time and i love her car so much it's actually the reason i bought my Z. I wanted something like her G but faster and handles better. Her exhaust is actually louder than mine even she notices that. As far as roominess goes, I'm 6'4" 205lbs and I love the way the Z fits me
