Default WRX driver looking at Zs

Hi all,

Just joined because I've been using this forum quite a bit the last few days with all the good info about the 370z (and lots of great pictures!).

I own a 2009 WRX which I will be keeping as my daily driver but like the idea of a 370Z as sort of a collector/occasional nice weather fun car. I'm currently deployed overseas and have had too much time on my hands which has given me the "money burning a hole in my pocket" problem. I will be moving to the Tampa area where I will be at MacDill AFB and should be there at least the next few years. I figure a Z would be a nice car to have to take the occasional cruise in. I've been trying to decide which package I would want with the Z but it may just depend on what I see locally in Florida when I get there. I'm thinking that the NISMO would be a great collector and seeing as how I don't plan on daily driving it, I could deal with less luxuries. That being said, the body kit may be a bit flashy for my personality, but wow, it looks good!

Anyways, thanks for all the great info for helping me decide what I want to do!

Thanks for the welcome!

It's a Satin White Pearl '09 WRX Premium. Not an STI. I was considering trading it in for an STI but I think I like the idea of keeping it as a daily driver. Then baby the 370z lol. The 2011 WRXs look real nice with the STI widebody style. And the STIs look like they have much improved chassis which would be nice.

Right now it's been in storage the past year and when I get back I will be installing a Perrin downpipe (already has SPT catback), 25mm front/22mm rear sways, and flashing the ecu w/ a cobb st 2 access port. Already purchased...just waiting to be put on.

I'll throw some pictures up once I get back to my personal computer.

Welcome!

Normally I would always stay with the coupe, but as a second car in FL, did you consider the roadster?

I've had 2 STis... an 05 and an 08. I really enjoyed both of them but I had to get back into a Z. The Nismo 370 is a blast! It feels just as quick as the STi (stock to stock of course) but in a different way and it handles amazingly even in stock form. After I get twin turbos I am hoping to snag up an 04/05 STi just to have both. They are really both excellent choices.

The past... 2008 STi stock thanks to questionable ringlands, 2005 STi modded and very fast, 2004.5 350Z modded and fast-ish

The roadster would be great in the Florida weather that's for sure. I'm just not a big fan of how it looks. I really like the sleek design of the coupe.

I was considering the STI at the time I bought the WRX. The WRX was the first new car I've ever bought and I thought the STI might put a strain on my finances. Turns out, since I'm overseas with virtually no other expenses I could have afforded it quite easy. Plus with the WRX premium, I do like the sunroof. I think the NISMO might be the way to go for me. If I do purchase a Z I plan on leaving everything stock (except for maybe the stereo if I get a NISMO).

The 370 is a great car, I'm sure you'll love it whichever model you decide to go with.

Pics of the WRX from a road trip Seattle ----> Boulder, CO. Took the long way down through California, Vegas, and Utah.
