:( need 370z members help in this story

hi all,

something really bad happened to me and i want to share my story and i hope someone can help.

My name is Ahmed, i live in a country called Bahrain. i have a friend who work in a car dealer in GA. he purchased for me a 370z before one month ago.

the car was in Albaama Crest Caddillac! he bought it and drove it to GA.

just today they guy who purchased the car told me that few cars in his showroom was stolen. and they stole my 370z.

he told me that there is no insurance on the car since he was trying to change the title when car was stolen.

anyways, they did an investegation but nothing happened.

so i asked for the sulotion. he gave me 2 sulotions:

1- he take a personal loan and give me my money bak ( he's not sure if the bank will give him 33 000 USD)

2- if the bank wont approve the loan, i choose another 370z in GA and he will take an auto loan and buy it for me then send it to me!!

my first question is: if he took a car loan, how he will ship the car and its titled with the bank name !!! (i dont know about US system)

my secound question did anyone here heared about that a showroom were stolen in GA? i dont want to put his dealer name here. so it dont effect his reputation.

any help ?? any advices ??

i really dont know wat to do!!

AuburnZ 08-12-2010 06:46 PM

I did a search on our local paper (I live in Atlanta, GA) and did not see any stories that they had written about a dealership having cars stolen. Doesn't mean it didn't happen, just didn't get reported in the news bureau or is not in the Atlanta area.

Checked google and didn't see anything there either.

daisuke149 08-12-2010 06:55 PM

If thr title was still dealership. Their insurance cover. Otherwise his insurance would havr. Otherwise he just didnt get insurance and is lying to you. At all times some party has to have insurance on the car.

didymus 08-12-2010 06:58 PM

Sounds fishy?

jdmlove 08-12-2010 06:59 PM

he told me that the insurance was only for 10 days after the purchase!!

shabarivas 08-12-2010 07:12 PM

Then what he was doing was illegal and you can get your money back... I still dont understand why you paid him before getting the car in hand...

jdmlove 08-12-2010 07:14 PM

we trust this, actually he shipped for us 10 cars before the 370z!

sooo!! am really in a bad situation. i dont know about procedures or laws in the US!! but he told me that the insurance was only for 10 days!!

That is how it has to be done though, it is all cash up front to export a car legally.

lllll210lllll 08-12-2010 07:48 PM

damn. sorry to hear this... i say you get him shipped to you and kick his *** for lying... lol

NYBladeZ 08-12-2010 07:54 PM

This sounds messy, frankly if you're out that much money I'd personally book a ticket, get stateside, talk to the dealership and get this resolved. If he's lying to you, you'd want to be here and meet an attorney asap.

JvKintheUSA 08-12-2010 09:08 PM

What color was it? Was it a base model? We'll keep our eyes open for you here in GA!

m4a1mustang 08-12-2010 09:14 PM

Did you get a VIN # for the car you paid him to get for you? I know you say you trust the guy but being so far away it's easy for someone to scam you -- especially in this economy where someone might be hurting for money.

m4a1mustang 08-12-2010 09:18 PM

Also, did he file a police report?

SgtGoldy 08-12-2010 09:25 PM

hmmm... that sounds just a lil 2 fishy... I would be extremely catious

SmoothZ 08-12-2010 10:02 PM

I know a similar story. Basically, the 'dealer' took your money and sold the car to someone else. Good luck getting anything out of this.

toner123 08-13-2010 02:40 AM

Man I am sorry to hear this.

Off topic I have visited your country and I must say the US is a total different place when it comes to business. Alot of people here from the US will wonder why you would have done something like that such as giving full money or having so much trust in someone. So I will explain, on your behalf. In Bahrain when it comes to business there really isn't shady deals of things like this. They are true hearted business people when it comes to delivering a product. Also theft is extremely low due to such serious penalties for your action, example being getting your hand cut off. I know someone who left a solid gold bar in the back of a taxi cab. He realized 6 hours later that he left it there and called the cab guy back. Sure enough the cab guy came and picked him up and took him to a police station where he dropped it off. Well the cab driver was unaware this was in his car till a customer handed it to him. So who knows how many people seen that bar there and left it alone till the person asked the cab driver about it. Still till this day that story amazes me because if it was here in the US you would never would have seen it again.

I am extremely sorry to hear about this but at this point I think you will see alot of people here believe that you are being taken for a ride on this situation. I would advise what others have and that is getting on a plane and visiting the dealership. If no grounds are met then you need to contact a lawyer for your legal options
Frank

jdmlove 08-13-2010 03:35 AM

well thanx alot frank.

i have to wait for 2 days. the guy who work in the dealer applied for a personal loan to get me my money bak.

and he promised if the bank didnt approve the loan, he will pay me 10 000 usd in cash and then 1000 usd each month :S

which will make me wait around 1 year to buy another car!

i am waiting now for 2 days to get his reply.

jdmlove 08-13-2010 11:02 AM

the dealer who bought for me the car called:

Import Motorsport inc

its located in GA 30093

Did any body heared that 3 cars was stolen from this deal in the past few weeks?

Regards

m4a1mustang 08-13-2010 11:07 AM

Their website is atlautos.com

Ahmed, I ran a Carfax report on that VIN# which didn't really help me much. The last entry was 4/30/2010 when the vehicle was offered for sale by the owner. It does check out that the car is indeed an Alabama car.

jdmlove 08-13-2010 11:46 AM

thank you for ur effort, yes the car was purchased from crest cadillac in alabama.

i need to know if its true that three cars were stolen in the past few weeks or no.

I really hope that some one from the 370z live in GA can help my by asking.

:(

toner123 08-13-2010 09:20 PM

search the web for the local police station to the dealership and give them a call. If there was a robbery it would have been transfered to the closest police station for them to handle it.

The town its located in is Snellville Ga. , and the non emergency number for the Snellville City Police Dept is 770-985-3555. Don't forget the country code, and give them call or if your english isn't that hot get someone to speak for you and ask them about the situation.

jdmlove 08-14-2010 04:35 AM

thanx guyz, latest updates: the guy called me yesterday night.

and he told me that today he will know if the bank aprroved his loan or no.

if the bank approved his loan then he will transfer me the cash, if not he we take the money from one of his relatives.

so, i will give him 2 days and see what he will do. if nothing then i will call the police station and ask them wether there was cars stolen or no in the dealership!!

i will keep u updated!

Jjaden 08-14-2010 10:27 AM

Interested to see how this all unfolds. I wish you the best outcome...

Pharmacist 08-14-2010 11:09 AM

i agree with others that there is something fishy going on. you should be more diligent. why didn't you just buy from bahrain? is the car not being sold there? or a nearby country? why buy from such a far country?

jdmlove 08-14-2010 11:39 AM

the car in my country is about 60 000 USD. brand new.

near countries also sells the 370z gulf specs, and its so expansive :S

what are gulf specs? and why is it so expensive? from my days in saudi arabia i remember taxes were very minimal there. what is causing the price to be that high?

jdmlove 08-14-2010 05:28 PM

well, the car price is too high here in my country and i didnt find used.

and the guy already brought for us like 10 cars b4 this car!! that why i trusted him.

i just closed the fone, he told me that the car was parked outside the dealer, and its got stolen with 2 other cars.

anyways, the guy can change his number and dont give a f*** bout it and dont give me the money bak!! but he told me that he's trying to collect enough cash and he will send it to me and then he will pay me monthly 1500 USD.

and am so f***ed up here!! i cant do anything!! i think i will wait for the end of this week, he might collect 15 000 and send it to me and then send me the rest of the amount as instalments!!!

BUT I NEED UR HELP IN THIS POINT! is there is any legal document in the US were he can sign and send to me mentioning that he will pay me the installments!! promissary note or something!! if any about know about!! PLEASE HELP!

Mike 08-14-2010 05:50 PM

you just need to put the agreement in writing and have him sign it and get it notarized. it doesn't have to be a specific form or anything.

sonic370 08-14-2010 07:05 PM

man sorry to hear about your bad deal. it sounds to me by reading your post
this guy just ripped you off. is he a salesmen at this dealership? sounds to me like he sold the car twice. good for him bad for you.

NewlyIMPORTed 08-14-2010 07:58 PM

damn man sry to hear.. If i lived closer to the dealership i would go check it out for you

fullmonty 08-14-2010 08:18 PM

Contact the police dept at the number i posted before and speak to a detective about filling charges. I take it that it would be grand larceny

jdmlove 08-15-2010 01:19 AM

right now, i dont want to investigate or call the police dept.

i am afraid that he somehow will know that am trying to investigation behind him and he will not send me any cent!

i will wait until he gives me my money bak, and then i will make sure if his story really happened or no.

I only have hope now. i should give him a call by next friday! and see how much he will send me :(

FuszNissan 08-15-2010 09:18 AM

So does he have any paperwork from the dealer that this car was in fact purchased?
-Bill of Sale
-Title
-Receipt for the Cash deposit
Ect...

Why would the car sit for 10 days after paying for it?
Just some questions to ask.

m4a1mustang 08-15-2010 09:54 AM

I agree with Lou... he should have paperwork that he could fax to you. The story doesn't really add up.

Did he conduct the deal as an "off the books" transaction or did the company he works for work the deal? If it's the latter, I would think their business insurance should cover inventory theft, and there shouldn't be a big problem in returning you your money.

It's just a very weird situation and unfortunately because you're all the way out in Bahrain it's difficult to find out exactly what is going on.

Whatever happened, hopefully this guy is genuine and returns your money.

jdmlove 08-15-2010 11:13 AM

there is no paper work, because he bought the car personally not under his company.

the car parked for 10 days cause he had to ship the car for me.

before he ship the by few days, it got stolen, and it was parked out side the dealer (were he works)!!

m4a1mustang 08-15-2010 11:15 AM

Regardless of whether he purchased the car through the company or personally there will be sales paperwork from the dealership he bought the car from.
