"Dancing with the Dealer" with the 40th - hope to be in the "New Owner" section soon

(Finally bought it Saturday night!!!)

Hey all,

I just test drove a 40th this weekend and loved it. Hopefully you'll see me in the "New Owner" section soon! Will post pics if/once I get there.

I've been a Z-fan since 1991, where I lusted after a 300ZX TT as my first car, but sensibly drove an SE-R for 12 years. I'm now driving the wife's del Sol ATM - she's got the SUV to drive the kids around. The Sol is getting long in the tooth. Some people say this is a "mid-life" - I figure my time is due. :p

Some observations:
- SRM: WOW. I was originally eyeing a Touring w/o Sport. Now it's a requirement.
- Acceleration/handling: yup, it's a Z! I've toyed with the idea of buying a used Cayman, but with the discount the dealers are throwing at me - it's almost a no brainer (plus the smell of virgin, untouched, new car interior )
- Road noise: it's not a luxe cruiser, but it's quieter than the low profile tires and aftermarket suspension on the Sol. Would different tires tame the roar? Also, would a Dynamat/Second Skin application help? Just wondering.

I'll lurk in the meantime, but here's to an eventual move in posting sections. ;)

To the Dynamat question. Yes, I did mine and it is vastly different than stock. It's quiet enough that it almost lulls me to sleep at times.

That's good news. I'll save the sheets earmarked for the Sol and start planning it out. Thanks!

Moving over to the "New 370Z Owner" section - and lovin' every minute of it...

Def go with the Pro Form or Paint Protection Form. 3M makes a really good one. I bought my Z on Saturday too and by Monday it was tinted and sealed. I also love the way this car drives. I had an 09 base and traded it for this one. I'll never go back now.

Yes, I'm getting paint protection and tint before I do any serious driving on the freeways here in SoCal. I'm with you with how the car drives. It's feels like just a small metal skin around a pretty decent engine!
