New to the 370z, but not to the Z world!
Hey, all-I'm Josh. I'm 20, and currently enlisting in the Navy (guess what I'm getting with the bonus!). Currently, I'm driving a Z31, so I've got the Z bug already-but this will be my huge bonus for myself!

welcome
Hey, congrats on your future Z purchase. Thanks for your decision to serve as well. New to the forum too. What color/trim are you planning on getting?
|

Base 370Z pro-save money, slightly lighter. con-no leather seats, worse speakers. 370Z Touring pro-leather interior, speakers, (more likely to grab the Nav Package) con-more pricey, slightly heavier. NISMO 370Z pro-slightly more power, more performance. con-pricey, not quite sold on the body kit. |

don't do the nismo. its nice, but a waste of money in my opinion. |

Yeah, after thinking about it some more, I'm scratching the NISMO Z off the list-I just can't get around the idea of paying more money for a body kit I like less. Right now, it's just the choice between the basic Z w/Sports or the Touring Z w/Sports.

Wlecome aboard shipmate! Can't say I'd personally spend my enlistment bonus on a Z when I'm going to be an enlisted man in the Navy. Unless you're going to nuclear propulsion school, you won't be getting rich from the Navy. I was career Navy so I've some knowledge in that area. I wish you the best of luck and I also thank you for serving your country. Those things said, if getting a Z I agree with the others, save some dough and nix the NISMO. You'll love the 370Z in many ways, just as all of us do. Fair winds and following seas as you begin your adventure in the Navy.

I like the idea of the sport/touring combo, but I'm still not completely sure whether the leather seats and sound system is worth it.

Welcome Josh, you'll love it here~ :tiphat:

Yeah, my wish list for this car is already growing incredibly rapidly-more so than I'd ever thought possible. The Stillen exhaust and Gen 3 intake, Amuse Vestito body kit, the Forged Performance S1 shortblock tying into either the Stillen supercharger or one of the twin-turbo setups...I'm pretty sure I'll be spending more money on the aftermarket then I will on the car itself :( . Good thing my enlistment bonus is big, or I'd never afford it!

Rest of your list looks great. |
Yeah, I know the Gen 3 wouldn't go well with SC, but I'm more and more partial towards a TT kit. I'm waiting to make my final decision on SC/TC until at a minimum, Stillen comes out with more official numbers on their system, but it's more and more looking like a turbo setup, in which case it's Stillen I/E systems.
Besides, I've always kinda prefered snails to whistles. |
Okay, small update-got to test-drive a 2010 Sport/Touring 7AT yesterday. I love this car, but I've got a few small gripes.
First off, does the automatic always lag so much on the upshifts? I've driven a paddle-shift manumatic before (Evo X MR), but I was completely surprised by how slow it shifted. I was planning on an manual anyways, but this is just ridiculous. Second, I know all about the rearward-visibility complaints-are there any tips to mirror setting or the like to help out while I get used to it? Other then that, I absolutely loved the car. I'm not sold on the persimmon leather that mine came in, and I'm more and more sure on black leather, but my decision to get this car has been confirmed. |
