Well I figured I have been floating around on this forum long enough... might as well make my presence know.

Been driving a 2008 mazdaspeed3 GT (pictured below) for about 2 years now. I love this car... but I am coming to a crossroad where I feel like its time to get a 2 seater. My previous car was a 06 VW GLI 2.0T and before that was a 97' F-150 XLT so I think its time for me to get a sports car.

This community is great and I have learned a lot just from reading around. I appreciate everything everyone here does. Very friendly...reminds me of mazda3forums ...before that was vwvortex...and ummm that forum was not always so friendly lol

I have been considering getting a 370z since the day it came out...but I love my speed3 and want to give it a little more time...lol. It will be paid off by the end of this year and and I will def. be looking at getting a 370z shortly after (wanna save some money by not having payments for a little bit...lol)

The only other cars I have considered are an older used C6 Corvette (which will probably be too expensive to insure and a bif off putting since it will be even older than my current car) or a barely used 5.0 2011 Mustang GT.

All in all Im sure ill end up with the 370z since i just love the idea of a light and small 2-seater...and right now the only car that sways me a little really is the New Mustang GT with the 412HP 5.0l engine... but i think it more the mystery that has me on that car then anything. We will see...

Welcome, nice car.
The Vette might not be as expensive to insure as you think, remember the main group of ownership of that car is the older generation which is not racing/speeding/etc. The new Mustang is going to be interesting, orders actually begin soon or already have for the 2011, but if you can afford a Z you might/should be able to afford a new Mustang.

Agreed, nice car and cool pic. Also agree about the group here - good people.

Good luck with your decision on which car to get. For me it was a little easier, I've wanted a Z for years. Then I saw the 370 at last years auto show, sat in it and was smitten. A few months later I said goodbye to my modded Titan and been loving the Z since.

Welcome!

Thanks for the heads up... i actually totally forgot about the fact that most corvette drivers are over 50 lol... i think im just making up excuses cause i like the 370z the most lol.

As far as the new new mustang...or a Z... When the time comes I def. want to get either of them used. I'm not big on paying the loose $5k as your car rolls off the lot fee...lol. There are a great deal of used Zs available with really low miles so thats most likely what I will be after when the time comes. Looking now... i wish my car was paid off since there are so many available right now.

So we will see when the time comes... I want a 370z so bad I can taste it...i've been dying to own once since i first saw pictures and when i first saw one in person at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2008.

Ya I have wanted a Z for years...but at first it just wasnt practical... now it just doesnt matter... i dont need to be practical for at least 3-5 years.

I was in love the first time I saw a 1970 Datsun 240Z.... then when i was 17 my cousin bought the 350z when it first came out and took me for a ride and I wanted one.

8 years later and 3 cars I am def. in a place that getting a Z is completely within my means and makes sense...but I need to pay off my car first.

I am itching... I have test drove one already but the sales guy was freaking me out... i dont think he knew how to drive stick...and was nagging me every time I shifted lol... i think i scared him a little.

So in due time I am sure I will end up in a 370z... I just cant wait LOL.

Ah, I saw a few teaser shots of the Z and was interested but not 100% sold. Went to the Houston Auto Show and I was 80% ready to buy that day, test drive was what made me buy it.
You should do what I did not do, finish paying off the car and then save up as much as you can. My previous car was paid for and I have money for a down payment, but if I waited to buy a 2010 I probably would have just paid cash in the end. Though I really have enjoyed my Z this past year.

Ya i figure with the depreciation of my speed3 in a year or so I can sell it to carmax or private party for between 10k and 14k and with a few months with no car payment and being able to just save that up I will have a pretty decent down payment on the car. Financing 10k or so will be a breeze lol.

I will be done paying off the car in December of this year and my birthday is in June so... I might be getting myself a present for my birthday in 2011...lol.
