Sorry to say. ...your gonna get that when you're young. Because, he's right, you looked (and probably said the same things) as a joy rider. So the dumbazz sales guy is gonna treat you like one. I experienced it when I bought my 350Z. I went to five different dealers before I found one I liked.
As a side note, beofre a test drove a 370Z last summer, my wife and I stopped into the Porsche dealership just to get a closer look at the cayman. All I said was "Hi I stopped into ask a few questions and take a quick look at the Cayman." He asked PDK or a manual, told him PDK was not my style, and out of my price range. Next thing out of his mouth was, " Do you want to take one for a drive?" I said, "well I'm not planing to buy today, really just wanted more info." He said that's OK. So off my wife and I went - for a test drive in a new Cayman. Point is, some dealers know how to treat people, some don't. I bought my 370Z form Lou Fusz in St. Loius. Worth the drive -helluva deal, and great service. He'll make delivery arrangements if you prefer.

I ordered my 370z without test driving a z. What you should of done is contacted dealers through edmunds, costco, or by email before walking in. You really should of left the dealership once they began acting the way you did. As people mentioned there are other Nissan dealership. If you're serious about buying a z get a firm price, get approved financing before walking into the dealership.

I purchased 5 cars from dealers in the past 7 years and every time it's the same thing. They make assumptions and I get a sour taste in my mouth. You are all correct though, they do tend to be less willing to test drive on the east coast period.
I went down to Katy, Texas, to buy my 97 Supra from a dealer. Best buying experience of my life. I picked my price, they printed out my paper work and I left with my car in a matter of an hour. When I went into the dealership today and spoke to the sales guy, I said: "I'd like to buy a 2010 Nismo.. in Red" They didn't have one and I knew this so I said: "I realize you do not have one on hand but I'd like you to go over the other models with me and test drive a 6 speed since I will only drive manual transmission vehicles." Since people are saying I should come to some kind of agreement before I go to another dealer, do you mean tell them I am paying up front and ask them for their bottom line price? Or should I name MY price and let them decide if they want my business. Other thing, peoples word is never good. I have learned this if nothing else in this life and you just can't trust these crooks. How am I supposed to get a solid guarantee that they will not try to lure me in and waste some more of my time? |

Name your price, there is an invoice thread here and it seems most (if not all) here are getting just over invoice for the 2010, about the same for the 2009. Go in prepared with your material, price/options/color/etc. and if they are going to be a**wholes about the thing then leave and move to another dealership.
If they are all bad, there are some dealers on the board here who will be more than happy to get you the car you want and even ship it to you.
