Hi from Italy
Hi all, sorry for my English..
Nice to see the birth of a 370z forum even before its presentation! I live in northern Italy, on the western coast of lake Maggiore, 70km north from Milan. I'm a Z enthusiast, I used to have a gun-grey one until 2005, when I sold it for a Lotus Elise R. I was bored by its weight, but I've never forget it, it was probably the most interesting car in the world of affordable vehicles. The Elise was beautiful, the best car you could buy for driving on the public roard, but it also made it possible for me to understand that I'll never buy another one. I needed a more versatile car, so, having had a 350Z before and wanting to try something else, here I am with my Porsche Cayman S. What can I say about it? Perfect car, as only german people can be, but it doesn't have a "soul". The 350z was not the fastest one, was not the prettiest one, but she could say something new to the world. It is an Obamacar! I am now sure I'm japanese inside and I'm looking forward to touch the 370Z when it will land down here. I'll probably sell my Cayman for it. Problem is, I don't like the lights very much. And I hope it will be "thinner" and lower than it seems on the pics (but I'm not the kind of guy to keep it OEM!) Bye! Davide |

Welcome to the forums Dav. I remember looking at a lotus elise back in 2006 when i was in the market but got an s2000 instead. That car was just too hardcore for a daily driver. When you get a chance upload some pics of your cars.

You have had some very nice cars. The Z has it's own heart. Words can't describe it but when the exhaust roars at 5000 rpm, it's just something else. It may not the fastest or the lightest sports car on the road but it's most certainly a fun car. BTW, I have always wanted to drive the Lotus Elise. Hopefully one day I'll drive one just to see what it's made of. The new Z will be a very interesting car. It's shorter chassis, 338 HP (speculated), and lighter weight 3135ish lbs, will give the new Z a whole new category. There have been rumors that Nissan is targeting the new Z against the Porsche. You really gotta see the car in person and test drive it. The car will look so much better in person. Keep us posted and again enjoy your stay here aha I can see the headlight washer on your Z. If you look at the European pictures that was released, you can see this washer as well. We don't get that in our US spec Zs. I guess we don't rally our cars here in the state

I was told that headlight washer is necessary to prevent xenon lights automatic stabilization failures, that usually happen when headlight plastic cover is dirty. I don't know if this is true or not..! I only know that I can activate them by pressing a button, but they can also come out when they decide to, so my perfectly washed and clean car could be covered of glass cleaning liquid..!!
About Italy... Man, it depends... This is a beautiful country when you speak about food, panoramas, history, cars and bikes. This is NOT a beautiful country when we speak about laws and freedom. Speaking about car tuning, I think you don't know how difficult is for enthusiasts to get the car tuned, they always come out with stupid problems stopping you from "expressing" yourself. This is not a tuning problem only, laws are old and stupid in the majority of situations. I know you have got your problems too, but it seems to me that freedom is an american word, as you can decide how to live (respecting other people) without too much "stress" caused by the governement. |

Maybe Italy will finally pull its head from its archaic as time goes by. It's a gorgeous country, but I've noticed what you've said about laws & a general sense of... gruffness... to the country & its people.
I'm a huge soccer (calcio, lol) fan. One thing I notice is that a country's national team often reflects the mentality of its people. The Italians were often a very negative team (catenaccio?), preferring to score once & hold the ball in the midfield for the rest of the match or even believing it was better to draw than concede a goal. Over the last eight years or so, there's been an influx of new players to their team which have brought a much more attacking mentality to the side. Perhaps this is an early sign of the country's loosening? Anyway, I apologize for the dissertation. Welcome to the site. |

I think I've understood what you're saying. And I agree. Consider this: the actual premier is Berlusconi, you know better than me what kind of man he is (think about the recent "suntanned Obama") and how important soccer is for him
I never felt italian, I've always thought that italians are good at eating and flirting and constantly licking international asses EXCEPT someone. I'm not saying Italy's the worst country in the world, but I think that its citizens are not so interested in changing their mentality. |
