Air Mods for 2014 370Z
 

Hello all,

I have a 2014 370Z Nismo and am itching to do some mods. I want to start with a cold air intake. Back in the day we simple flipped the air cleaner lid to get a better sound and performance! We had Giant Chrome bumpers too. A lot has changed since then......So, in your opinions, who makes the best quality and performing system?

Perhaps you can start searching under the Engine & Drivetrain - Nissan 370Z Forum section. What you might consider "a good product" might not be the best for others. They all have different gains on Hp or tq although very similar, they might make a different sound and so on. Some are easy to clean and install while others require the removal of the front bumper (easy stuff) and others require some sort of modification and even relocation of equipment.
Then the equipment by itself does not gives (yields) much of the anticipated power until a tune is performed.

Stillen G3/thread

The most common intake mod's would be Stillen Gen3 CAI's, or a set of nice filters and post-MAF tubes. You should be able to search for -plenty- of information on either of these through the forums as suggested.

Thanks everyone for the direction on the cold air systems.

I wanted to get a feel of what other Z owners are happy/unhappy with before I go spending cash aimlessly. There are so many options and price levels out there.

I've tried both stock, JWT "pop chargers" and stillen gen 3 CAI

Hands down Stillen gen 3

My intake temps for both stock (with drop in filters) and the JWT averaged ambient plus 20 temps with bad heat soak that did not dissipate at speed

The Stillen gen 3 will heat soak at idle or in traffic to about +17, but as soon as you speed up and get airflow it drops to +6 to 10 or so. In other words, it's way better.

The Z1 400 hp kit has me up about 60 whp over stock (includes Stillen gen 3)

Try Vs the Takedas, Same WHP and Takedas are 100$ less

I was wondering about the Takeda's, They look awfully close to the Stillen's and you are right, they are cheaper. I will definitely head in the direction of that style of intake.
We FINALLY got some nice days here in crappy 'ol Illinois so I have had a chance to enjoy the car a bit. I am getting very proficient at removing dead bugs from the bumper.

As for the CAI, I have the Nismo long tube air intakes and it sounds beastly.

I really like my GReddy (Takeda rebrand) intakes

I had them powder coated OEM black. Looks very factory. I like the MAF placement better on the Takeda too.

1.Stillen gen 3 (or greddy, etc just make sure long tube)
2.cat delete pipes (Z1, JWT, stillen... etc)
3.Z1 intake plenum (VERY easy mod with modest gains)

(4.)(Z1 sells downpipes as part of 400 hp kit, but its pretty hard to install a bit pricy, and brings smaller gains.$ then the 3 mods listed above)

together these breather bolt ons will bring a big na gain.
