Well, first wave of mods are done; they are clear bra, paint correction, glass coating, window tint, debadge, engine cover removal, and steering column lock disable (fuse pulled). Wheels & tires, anti-sway bars, exhaust, and maybe springs/dampers.

Wow you've done a lot in a short amount of time! I would love to do paint correction on mine but don't want to fork up the money for the porter cable etc right now. Looking at $350-400 in the end. Would rather do a gear swap and add VLSD! I have an exhaust in the mail, stillen cbe. I'll install that and my next mod will be 4.08 gears and the additional of a VLSD. Open carrier right now

I have new black Z emblems to replace the silver Nissan ones and black 370z badge. Just got the windows tinted on sat. 35% on the sides and 5% in the back.

Well, I meant to say that the suspension and the wheels and tires are next. I have not decided on them.

Personally, I try to avoid cutting the paint; I'm not one to do that. If you're like me and you wanted someone to do it, let me know. The guy is mobile and he installs clear bra, does paint correction, and installs glass coating.

I have the a 2010 touring; not sure if thats considered the base model or not. But no VLSD in it- that only comes with the sports package I believe. I talked to a guy who has a nismo and he put a carbotech(??) differential in his - its a high quality aftermarket diff and he said he can't tell the difference between that and his VLSD that was in it other than when hes tracking it; which I dont think I'll do. Keep in mind hes also trying to sell me the VLSD. Plus I'm on a budget so at the moment it sounds like a good choice. I was going to go quafie diff ($1k) but after speaking with the guy I couldn't justify an extra $650. If you have any input please share!

Touring is not base; so yours doesn't have the fixed calipers? I thought Touring package included Sport package. I guess at that price, it's not bad. It's just VLSD in 350Z pisses me off maybe because I'm used to clutch-type and automatic locker in my other vehicles.

Honestly, I don't know if I have fixed or floating calipers. Why does the VLSD in the 350z piss you off? What is the biggest difference you notice between VLSD and LSD ? I don't know anything about clutch type differential.

Fixed calipers come with the Sport package, they have "NISSAN" emblazoned across the outboard surface.

VLSD needs a certain difference in speed and the limiting feature doesn't start until there is a large difference, meaning, during heavy cornering, the inside tire has to slip at a high speed before the outside tire getting any torque. However, once the outside tire has been engaged and its speed becoming closer to the inside, the VLSD turns to "a relaxed state" and the limiting property drops sharply allowing the inside tire to gain speed again. Repeat that about 6-7x during a long sweeper at an autox. It's frustrating.

Clutch-type LSD has a couple clutch packs which are already locked at zero speed difference. It still allows some slip, but it's already loaded from the getgo.

Well I do have Nissan embroidered across the surface so that makes me think I have fixed calipers. And I see. Now youre making me second guess my decision. I'll have to do some more research.

What would a SPEC stage 3 clutch be rated as: VLSD or LSD?

Just want to know whether or not when I upgrade the clutch again if I should change to an LSD if I am already not

No vsld. Its not sports package. Ive lit the tires up, only one rubber path laid. So that means that the Nissan embroidery doesn't necessarily mean its a sport package unless the person before me had the brakes upgraded.

That's the problem with viscous LSD, its capability of "limiting slip" is very poor.

Hmm. You think its worth another $650 even though I don't plan on tracking it? And by embroidery I mean the "Nissan" on the outside of the calipers. Stamped, pressed, embroidered, etc lol

Personally, I'm not planning for an aftermarket LSD for mine. If you're planning to get on the serious side of autox or drifting, then an aftermarket LSD is justifiable, otherwise, the stock one is enough.
