Post Any Interesting Z Purchase Stories/Outcomes?

My Z purchase saved my sanity, and most likely my marriage.

Had a Z32 for 6 years, loved it. Had a few cars between then and now, none a 2-seater. Started the serious "kids" talk with my husband. We were leaning yes. I thought about it for a while, and quickly decided to buy a Z.

Now he's stuck with the "family" car... let's just say he came home with a baby bird.

Glad the Z was able to help you out. Mine is the opposite.. I would call it the relationship wrecker because I cant stop spending all my money on it. Lol

Glad your car has helped your marriage!

My interesting story is that when I purchased my car I was actually looking at an older (2010 vs my 12)model with double the mileage priced 1k more.

Long story short, I saw the newer one, was in better condition, more well kept, less swirls and just felt all round perfect. I found out it was a distress sale for your exact opposite reason... well I guess the same reason for your hubby... he needed a 'family' sedan... ahahhaa oh well atleast through my ESP he knows that it's being taken care of.

edit: I paid a bit more than 2k less than what the original car I was looking at. I have seen cars in that same price range now and none were in the same condition with clean carfax/reports.

Nothing crazy but I have little Z purchase story. I scheduled a test drive to go take a look at a 2011 PG Base w/Sport at a local Nissan dealer. Car was in my price range and had the options I wanted. As I start a walk-around of the car, I notice a really bad dent/bend in the passenger side door. Not just a little ding, but the door was visibly bent. Told them I will not buy the car as is and we need to discuss getting this fixed. So with my phone ringing off the hook the next day as they try to get me to come back, I decided to take another look at Autotrader. Low and behold a really nice GM 2012 that I've been staring at for the past 2 months, but never considered cause it was listed too high suddenly has it's list price reduced by about 4k. I immediately call them up, schedule a test drive, and that same day I was cruising home in my Z.

So happy I waited as I got a 2012 with way lower miles than I was expecting, in a color I really liked, and an extended 5 year warranty thrown in as well.

i'm a firm believer of destiny, so with that said... i was browsing auto trader for a 370z/ Evo/ STI. i saw some nismo's that were for sale and every time i called they were sold. same would go for the Evo's and STI's... at the time i was driving a rsx-s and i was going to sell that car in order to have some money to put down and pay of my tsx. so as im browsing i come upon a 2013 base sport package and the price was just right. this was about on a tuesday and i call the dealership and set up to come see it friday as it's 2 hours from me. that same day i put my rsx-s up for sale. Tuesday finishes and no calls, Wednesday comes and no calls. Thursday i get a call from a potential buyer and he sees the car and said he would like to sleep on it. Friday comes around and he (the buyer) calls me and said that he would want to buy the car. so after work i sell him the rsx-s and drive 2 hours to pick up the Z now if i didn't sell the rsx-s i wouldn't have been able to buy the Z and continue paying for the tsx as well. so i believe it was in my destiny to buy it haha. 7 months later i still enjoy it.

For some reason the dealer that I bought from couldn't unload my 40th. They sold it for 23k; not sure what prices around the states go for, but at the time it was least expensive Z34 of any year/mileage for sale in a 200 mile radius.

I had a similar experience. I was in the market for a 40th for about 2 months, looked at one in LA that was really beat up. One popped up on cars.com in AZ for a price that seemed low, car was in great shape, clean car fax, so I flew from OC to AZ bought the car and drove 5 hours home. I don't think dealerships look at 40th Anniversary's any differently than a regular 2010.

Funny my story is almost the same. Low mileage good priced 40th in Florida so I flew out and drove her 2300 miles home. Came with performance upgrades as well. Couldn't be happier and got it for thousands less than anything local

I had my 350Z at the point and time when my wife wanted a new car. So we shopped the Hyundai Elantra, Honda Civic, and the Nissan Sentra and everything was fine until she picked the Sentra. While we were up there at Nissan buying her car I saw the 13 gun metal Z with an auto there that caught my eye. Walked over too it and drooled then walked away. I asked the salesman that we were working with if my credit could pull a Z for me and I was told "yea probably so" and my wife was giving me that look not to buy it. So I pouted a bit and let it go. My wife told me to get a truck that was cheaper if I wanted something new so I went shopping and picked up a 2012 Ford F150 STX single cab on the cheap.
A few weeks after I purchased my truck our friendly salesman called me and was asking when I was going to come up there and trade in my 350Z on that new 370Z I was slobbering over. I told him he missed by a month and I already traded it for the truck. He told me to bring it by and they would appraise it and give me a good deal on it. Now Im thinking ok low ball time in which they did. I said no thank you but I did tell them if they payed me what I payed for the truck I would buy the Z. After about a week my salesman calls me again and asks me if I wanted that Z and I said yes but my offer stands. He said he would talk with his manager and let me know. I get the call back and was told no they couldnt do it. I told him I understood and thank you. Two days later I get another call from my salesman and he tried to counter my offer I made and I told him no again and I am not budging. He said he would call me back and let me know. A few hours later I get a call and was told to come on down and pick up my Z.
They paid me what I paid for the truck minus TT&L and a little negative equity from my 350Z.

I guess they were really desperate selling this car but hey I'm happy!

Our Z purchase was for my wife originally. Then she got a new job and a commute with lots of traffic. So I've been driving the Z as my DD for about 2.5 years now. She started the "kids" talk recently, and I told her if she wanted kids she would have to drive a minivan. That got her lol

Hope it never happens, but if it came down to the Z or my Ducati, there would be a NISMO for sale.

If/when my wife and I decide to have kids I'm still keeping the bike. I'm just not looking forward to the conversation where I have to explain to a 16-year-old boy why I'm allowed to have a crazy fast bike and he's not.

I was shopping my Frontier around to some Mitsu dealerships looking to get an EVO X, and with the market for them the way it is, they wouldn't budge on price or their shitty trade offers.

I moved on to try and snag a leftover 13' F150 Ecoboost, but they were also wayyyy more than I wanted to pay. So I said F*** it, I'll keep the Fronty, and took it in for service at my local stealership (dealer A). While I was waiting for my truck to finish I ended up talking with the guy I bought my truck from about a midnight blue 370 on the lot. He ended up "persuading" me to take it for a spin with him since he was bored. I loved it and got serious and asked a price. It was what I wanted the EVO for, and a hair less even. But after just deciding to keep my truck, I said no.

Fast forward a couple of weeks at the other Nissan dealer across town (Dealer B) and I see a Gun Metallic Base 6mt sitting on the lot. I proceeded to ask them about their price. I ended up getting a quote and trade offer from deealer B, and took it back to Dealer A. I ended up doing this at each dealership 2 or 3 times, each time getting them to beat each other and make more money on my truck offer. I ended up buying after Dealer A sent me a text with their rock bottom offer (while I was sitting at dealer B). I showed the the salesman, and he sighed, and said I'll see what I can do. I ended up signing shortly after, and ended up around 26.5 +TTL for my base 14'. The funny thing is the same person owns both dealerships, but because they wanted to make a buck, they fought for my business.

TL;DR: EVOs and F150s are 'spenive, dealers fight for my business, I win.

I had a full Eibach suspension, Flowmaster 44s, custom paint, rims, Steeda shifter, etc. In my basement was a Ford 8.8 rear end with 3.73 gears, Steeda diff housing, J&M tube control arms, and braided lines. On a stand was a 302 newly bored 0.030 over and ready for SCAT forged 331 stroker internals and a Trick Flow kit that included heads, intake manifolds, cam, and timing set. My goal was 400 naturally aspirated RWHP.

Then winter happened and coming home from work one day turned into an icy, slippery, steel signpost disaster. Somehow I escaped uninjured, but my beloved Mustang was annihilated.

To start I had my heart set on a 2011+ Coyote 5.0. After driving a Scion FR-S (gutless) and Camaro SS (overweight, ugly and poor handling) I went to Hagerstown Nissan to drive a 370 and see what all the fuss was about. Only problem was, they didn't have one. Pathetic! So after finding a gunmetal gray 6MT 5.0 at a Chevrolet lot of all places, I was ready to pull the trigger until my wife said "let's look at Mustangs at the Ford dealership first." Ironically enough they didn't have anything I wanted (gunmetal gray or black, 6MT, leather, 3.73, Brembo) but there was a black 2009 370 NISMO that was a trade-in. I asked to drive it, and the rest is history.
Sorry about the 'Stang, but it sounds like you've moved on nicely lol.
