I've had my 2013 PW Sport/AT for 2 weeks now......initial impressions.
Prior to getting my Z I hadn't owned a car in 15 years. The last car I bought was 22 years ago. -It's definately awakened some car related OCD. I've washed it 4 times now....today it was pretty clean before I found myself at it again. I just wanted to get the dust off it. Caught myself polishing all the glasswork at midnight last night. -The left hand mirror sure blocks the view turning left. I'm getting used to it now. -Rearward vision is a drag, but I've learned to work around it. -Doesn't hold anything in the back. I was half hoping I could get a roadbike back there if I took both wheels off....not a chance. I'm over it. -Brakes are fantastic, it goes just about as well. Sounds great, even stock. -Took it on a trip. The gas mileage isn't as bad as I was expecting. -Where I am 370s are rare as hen's teeth. I like that. You see about 5-6 350s for every 370. 911 and even Ferrari sightings are far more prevalent. There's a lot of money floating around where I live. -And every jerk in anything modded is always wanting to go. There's no shortage of those dough heads around here either. I read on this forum that driving a 370 would bring these types out of the woodwork. How true. -Still trying to get a handle on all the 'cockpit' operations and all the idiosincracies of the Intelli-Key/Security system. I'm sure I'll come up with a few more. 104 |

Congrats & welcome. I hear you on the OCD. I'm the only guy in my neighborhood that dries his car with a leaf blower after washing it. I'm headed to the garage this morning to put on a coat of spray wax and tire shine. It's a fun kind of OCD.

Welcome fellow new Z owner! I have that OCD too... and it really is an expression of how much love you have for your new beautiful machine. As one coworker said yesterday, you don't have a car, you have an experience!

Additional comments to above...
Further to my comments above..
- Free 3 month trial to SiriusXM...IMO, it's lame. Constantly 'surfing' through junk to find anything decent. Prefer the music on my IPod. - Paddle shifting isn't all that great. Now I know why most folks spring for 6 speeds. In auto it's kinda slow out of the hole unless you get on the gas and the engine's powerband doesn't really suit the shiftpoints the tranny picks; in 'manual' it's tough (for me anyway) to get it to shift smoothly. - Still curious. Where I am 370s are few and far between. Why is that? Do the dealers not get many of them because there's poor demand for them? Are there other cars at the same pricepoint that people opt for over 370s? - I'm not sure what I expected in the beginning, but 370s are sports cars. (duh) The ride is firm, the steering real responsive, almost overly-so. They're veritable go karts. For some reason that isn't what I expected. I guess I thought they would be more 'sedate'. It's been 37 years since I last owned a sports car. I've now got 1500-ish kms on mine now. (That's about 900 miles to the rest of you guys) 104 |

While the 370Z is arguably a very good bargain, it's still on the expensive side for a lot of people. Plus, without a back seat, it really sucks as a "family car." Some of the newer Camaro/Mustang/Challenger models are in the same price range but they are much heavier (my 2014 Challenger is ~1000 pounds heavier then the Z) and not as agile. The 370 steered, as you put it, like a go-kart; the Challenger not so much. And then there's all the garage queens that only get driven during great weather.

This is a beautiful car and it comes with a certain level of investment that most sports car buyers don't like today - low mpg, high entry price, transportation not focused at all on cargo or passengers. I chose this over the FR-S, because it was underpowered. The muscle car crowd seemed a bit lacking in refinement in comparison, and even the V8 versions are not as fast at practical speeds without spending more. And I end my soapbox looking to the future... the fun we both are going to have zooming around town, and getting double takes even with stock engines and original body kits. The Z is like dating a really pretty girl, you get a little jealousy, you spend more money taking care of her and in the end - for every moment you daydream about something more practical, 10 other people have daydreamed twice as much about what you have. |

Tomorrow's a month with my Z.
I went for a drive this morning really trying to pay attention to the road noise since I've been through that whole thread. It's not all that offensive IMO, although the stone pinging iin the wheelwells is annoying. I checked the radio volume at one point and it was at 18. Perfectly acceptable to me. At some point I'll probably lay down something like Dynamat, and put a layer of absorption over it, but after today it's not a priority. On occasion the left hand side mirror blocking the view turning left is a drag, but overall I'm really starting to like my Z. This isn't any great revelation to you guys here but bear with me.....it sticks to the road like glue (an extreme understatement) and hauls *** pretty well. The ride is firm and at times a bit harsh on some road surfaces but nothing rattles which would piss me off. Did I say I'm really starting to like it? I had the dealer do a couple of touch ups and polish out some spots in the paint that were getting under my skin since Day One and now I figure the paint is pretty decent. I can't find one thing on the whole car I won't be able to polish out. Now I just have to get another 30 more days in to get some paint protection on. 104 |
