New Z owner from North Alabama

Picked up my 2014 370Z last Friday. The last week has been nothing but smiles. Touring with sport package, 6-speed manual and nav. This is a early 50th birthday present to myself and my first sports car.

I talked to the guys at Z1 Motorsports in GA this week about adding some HP. I think I'm going to just start with a Gen3 cold air intake and then go from there. Im afraid to get too crazy before I find out what will and won't kill my factory warranty. I feel pretty safe with just the air intakes.

Very nice, happy birthday and congrats on the Z!

Am I crazy to already be thinking about mods?

Niche79 03-08-2014 04:37 AM

no but you better put your order in asap if your gonna go with Fast intentions exhaust which is VERY popular in the z community here. They are a 3 month wait time!

I had sent Z1 a email to get a quote on installing a Gen3 CAI and a Stillen exhaust. What's special about the Fast Intentions? Just the sound?

Good for you. Enjoy the ride!

Might consider a short trip to Nashville April 11 and 12 for our ZATTACK event with the Saturday car show at Nissan's HQ building just off I-65 in Franklin, TN.

Z1 Motorsports will be here as a sponsor so you could "talk mods" with them.

Congrats, these cars are a blast. I have your car's MB cousin out here in the west. Most on this board personalize their cars with mods and upgrades, kinda like the H/D scene if you are into motorcycles.

I would put wheel spacers and HFC's on your early short mod list. These have brought me the most pleasure to date. Also, if you can find a NISMO exhaust 'take off' on the board to buy they are a great value for what you pay.

Good motoring.

Sterling

Thanks, I've really been on the lookout since buying my Z and have only seen 1 (light blue) in the past week. I'm planning on going to cars & coffee next Saturday in Madison if your interested.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what do the wheel spacers add/do?

The more you ask, the more you read, the more you know. Mod bug alert.
Get a nice exhaust as mentioned. Fast Intentions, Motordyne, Invidia, etc. there's a bunch but I'd go with the top two I mentioned. Enjoy your time here.

Happy Birthday and nice gift to self.

Edit: forgot to mention, excellent color choice.

Wheel spacers have been a Porsche thing for a while. As mentioned, google them and you can get some great info. on them. Basically, they will bring your tires out closer to your fender openings and give your car a broader more muscular stance. In person it will surprise you how much it will change/improve the look of your car.

Good modding.

Got my order from Zaino's yesterday, so I spent the afternoon getting her cleaned up. Removing the dealer stuff was the first step.

Grats!

FI exhausts are very popular..not only because of the quality..but they look good (love the tips) and really work with you to get exactly what you want... (but you are looking @ 8-10 weeks until it arrives..and then you have to either install it yourself or get it installed (Should only be 1 hour shop time max..so whatever they charge 85-100 bucks an hour).

Now if you have an idea how loud you want to go, it opens up other options... Remember, you do not have to buy new..especially with an exhaust... I found an Ark Grip exhaust here on the forums for much less than a new one (any brand) would cost.... and also cat-back exhausts do not void the warranty.
