Brand new Z 20k for mods

This is going to be exciting. The 370z was already the highest hp vehicle I have driven.

Congrats. Sounds like a hell of a build coming.

Question. Why did you opt for the 34 row oil cooler on the '13? Plan on tracking?

Because turbos.

If it were my build I'd be looking at a radiator too.

Gotcha. Somehow missed the turbo listed right above it. Still early.

Go get some more coffee.
Oil cooler is good, I agree a radiator might be a solid upgrade to consider also depend on location & demand. Since he said this will be the highest HP car he might be taking it easy at first so might not need it really.

Considering how much he's dropping in labor to put in the kit, I'd do it now since you're already discharging the AC and draining the coolant to pull the motor.

Definitley could use some. My brain saw the 34 row oil cooler and knowing the '13 comes with one factory; immediately the question popped up in my head. Also since I am considering adding a 34 or 25 row oil cooler to my '12 to keep temps down on the track alongside the factory one. Although I didn't hit limp mode last weekend at Barber. I was curious as to the decision, but with turbo in the mix it's a completely different reason.

$20k was my budget too. But you only need that if you are going twin turbo.

- Get the Fast Intentions twins with test pipes and 2.5" catback (talk to Tony...you don't need the 3" in many cases). Comes with new intakes so you don't need something like the Stillen G3s. Can also come with an oil cooler so you don't need to add that separate. Also comes with new CSC so you're good there.

- Specialty Z 5 or 6 puck cluch and light weight flywheel combo.

- Swift springs or some decent coilovers.

- Spacers.

- Rear camber arms.

- Whiteline swaybars.

- Gauges for the turbo.

- the370z.com decal

Money spent and you'd have a 550+hp mini-Zilla.

*Edit: Oh, you have the base model...you'll need better brakes I bet. So if your $20k is firm go with the Swift springs instead of coilovers and get bigger brakes.

Fast Intentions makes what looks to be a good kit, but it sounds like the OP wants to get started on the car and not wait for kits to begin shipping. GTM Garrett kits can be in the mail in a few days. And if you want it to be easy to bolt a FI exhaust to GTM's downpipes, the 3" is very helpful.

It's not like they are months out at this point. We're talking a few weeks at most...which is time he should spend researching which kit to go with anyway.

Arrvax - I agree about the breakes and am on top of that. I found a good deal on a front/rear brembo brake kit. And will be going with HKS hipermax III coilovers. The 20k goes quickly and will likely be adding to it.

Yep. Once you decide to go with forced induction, doing it right pretty much eats up the vast majority of the budget. Then there's brakes, suspension, a rear diff, wheels, tires.......

I guess we should have told you that whatever budget you've got, add 50% to it.

At the end of the day, I'm still in under the cost of the M3 or CTSV I was considering, so it's still a win.

Plus the Z looks better than both of those
