New owner, never thought I would own a Z!
I recently sold a 2001 Mustang Bullitt with built DSS long block, Vortech supercharger, T56 Trans, built rear end, lowered with bilstiens, welded subframe connectors, etc. Total engine package produced around 500 hp and 470 lb. ft. of torque. This was my dream car I built over many years and it was a true high power touring rod. The care handled beautifully and with the six speed would get 24 mpg when traveling. After eight years of ownership I finally decided to let someone else enjoy the car. My wife never liked it anyway because it had that rawness to it and she could not drive it because of the heavy clutch.
So Saturday I picked up a new 09 370z silver touring w/sport package. This car is very impressive I never thought I would own one because I'm realy a fan of the C6 Corvette and really thought I would own one before the Z. The look of the Z really caught my eye though and when the opportunity came up to purchase the replacement for the Bullitt the Z won out. Not as powerfull as the vette but much more striking and with the auto w/paddle shifters is a total blast to drive. With the auto my wife can drive it too, which i'm not so sure is a good idea now that she has driven it and really likes it. I may have to get the Nismo exhaust and hope it irritates her like the Bullitt's did. ;) |
Welcome to the board and I am sure you will find this is the best place on the net to just kick your feet up and hang out. Lets see some pics of that Bullitt and its replacement. ;)

Congrats and welcome. If you do half of the stuff to your car that I have done to mine, it'll pretty much guarantee that she stays far away from it. Haha..
|
Congrats. Good job on the upgrade!
|
Welcome, do you have any pics of your new ride?
|
congrats!

Congrats...It takes a miracle to convert "V-8 domestic" gearheads to consider import, especially Japanese. It's not that you won't ever buy another domestic again in the future, but I usually thought V-8 guys saw it as taboo to drive import.
Yeah, C6 does have more balls, but it's also a V-8. Excellent choice. |
welcome to the z life and welcome to the z boards haha..
congrats on ur car |
Welcome! and Congrats.

I have to back up and mention that I did own a 1999 FRC Vette for a while and really enjoyed it. I will own another vette some where down the road. But for now I am enjoying the Z and how well it does everything, it may not excel at any one thing but it does everything well with aplomb. Nissan did good! :ughdance: |

When I saw what Shelby had to do to the ordinary Mustang GT's coming out of Ford to make the Shelby GT handle well (and the SGT really did handle well) it rally struck me how RAW the Mustangs really are coming out of Ford. That is the problem though...there are so many things RAW about the Mustangs (including the 2010's) that you have to invest another $5K to $10K to refine the damn vehicle. And then you loose your warrantly coverage to boot on everything you refined. Alot of reason why I went to the dark side with when I bought the 370Z. I was just in a near 300-car car show yesterday in the heart of the Midwest known for their dislike and displeasure of foreign car manufacturers. In fact my 370Z was the only foreign manufactured car in the entire show. Talk about feeling like I had a bullseye painted on my back. Most people during the show were avoiding coming over to see the car or they would just pass around it as I was parked between a Vet and a newer Mustang. However after I placed into the top 5 while I was packing up to leave, those whom I had earlier witnessed passing up the car started to flock over to my 370Z and ask questions about it. Many told me just how beautiful the car looked compared to any of the other cars at the show. And the compliments came from all ages and genders, including the senior age segment whom have the most dislike for foreign makers of cars. I was there 45 minutes after the show had ended showing the folks the features of the 370Z and answering their questions. I really think my 370Z was the detente for beginning the end of this particular area's distasteful perceptions for foreign car manufacturers. Only time will tell as I take this car more into the shows in that area. In plain words...the 370Z just exudes with design sexiness....its that plain, simple and extremely obvious to many of the folks who see the car at teh shows I put the car into... |
Beautiful Z. Congratulations on your car. I personally am a fan of Corvettes and the LSx engines. I simply LOVE their low end tq in those engines. Good to see another car enthusiast on the forum
