Proud new 370z owner!

Hey everyone! I'm excited to join the Nissan Z community with my recent purchase of a '13 370z Coupe in pearl white, 6MT, and sport package trim. I have put about 100 miles on the car since this Wednesday and I can't begin to tell you how much I am enjoying this ride.
Long story short; I was actually in the market for a truck to drive to handle some "utility" needs in my family but the wife and my mother convinced me otherwise. Ended up purchasing a Rav4 for the wife (she always wanted a CSUV) and I traded in our 09' G37X Sedan on the '13 Z!. Couldn't be happier aside from the extra car payment which was unavoidable either way. I have been a long-time member of the online car community over at Honda-tech since 2003 (Wow 10 years!). I am in the process of selling my Integra (AKA Money Pit!) and moving on from the Honda community. I love my Integra but I feel like it is time to part ways and move on. I am trying desperately to resist the urge to order an exhaust for my new Z! I want to hear this car!! Admittedly I am trying to break it in properly and I have not yet had it WOT or above 5K rpms. So as an initial question from me to you all - How did your break in process go and when did you change the oil for the first time? I was thinking about doing it soon and swapping to a magnetic drain plug. Looking forward to a new chapter in my car crazed life!! *EDIT!* FORGOT PICS OF THE Z!! |

Congrats and welcome! You'll find a great community of Z car enthusiasts here, with tons of information on your new Z.
As far as when to make that first change of oil? Well, you'll get different opinions on that one. Some change it after the break-in period and switch to a different brand than the recommended Nissan Ester Oil and others will play it strictly by the book. Same goes for the actual break-in. Some drive it like they stole it from day one and others again are by the book, so that is a choice you'll have to make. As far as the exhaust, that was the very first mod I made to my Z. The stock exhaust just was too tame for what I thought a Z car should sound like. As with other forums, use the search feature and you'll find just about every question you can imagine is answered and even a few you may not have thought of. Again, congratulations and welcome aboard! |
Welcome!!

I love the Nissan pearl white color!! Looks awesome on the Z! With my '10 Z I did not change the oil until around 4500 miles. I sent a sample in on the 2nd oil change around the 10k mark to Blackstone and they reported quite a bit of break in material still in the oil. I sent another sample around the 15k mark and they said it was much improved. I also switched to 5/30 Mobil 1 somewhere in there and didn't notice any chance in the sound of the engine. Some people use the ester oil religiously and others like myself switch to something else. For me I went with Mobil 1 since you can buy it anywhere and most oil change places have it available too, in case I'm on a trip or something and can't change the oil myself (or just too lazy!). Enjoy the new ride!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! So I just finalized the sale of my Integra and I am cringing thinking about how much I put into her and how much she sold for... :( Ahhh well... that's the modified car market for you...
What this does mean is I will be ordering my exhaust sooner than expected!! Loving the Ark Grip so far but does anyone have other recommendations? |
Noticed you in NJ, traded in a AWD car, got a Z. All I say is good luck in the winter lol :tup. Congrats!!
