New
Morning gentlmen. New to the forum. I bought a 11' 370 about a month ago and am very happy with the vehicle.
I am looking at doing the standard air intake replacement but have no idea where to start. I am not trying to spend and arm and a leg but I would like a better sound out of the car and from what I have read, an intake will do that. I've read people doing the K&N drop ins with some othe tubing, wondering what thats all about and how I am able to go about making the buy. Appreciate the time. Congrats and welcome, man.
K&N Drops-Ins + Z1 Post-MAF tubes (http://z1motorsports.com) are common and will provide similar gains to an aftermarket intake and are much more inexpensive. However, depending on how much sound change you want, an intake might not do it for you. Intake will sound different the more the throttle is open. An exhaust will give you an entirely different note across the board. I've got some K&N's with just about 1K miles of use on them before I purchased R2C intake (PM me if you are interested). I love the sound of the new intake (everything else still stock incl exhaust), but you really only hear it at 4K RPM and up. It's very subtle around 3K RPM, and sounds virtually stock if you don't get on it.

Welcome!
If you are referring to the post-maf tubes with K&N drop ins I'd go no firther than here Z1 Silicone Post-MAF Intake Hoses Most folks seem to like the Stillen G3s. There's a few other options out there as well. Look around in the Intake/Exhaust section of the forum for more info. |

Welcome I am not familaire with the sandad air intake replacement but the best way to mod the sound is get an exhaust of your liking. I would suggest not going the "I got it because it was cheap" route, but get something you are going to be happy with even if it takes a little longer to save for it. You can do it right, or do it again.$.02
The post MAF tubes are made by various companies such as HKS, Z1 & Cobb use to make them. Check the clasifieds here, there are often good deals. I type too slow anyway, what they said above me

Very good. Thanks fellas. I guess I have a lot to learn with this. Any idea on exhaust? Like I said I am very green with this stuff. Owned trucks my whole life so this is a new breed.

Fast Intentions is one of the most popular ones, but there is a wait for new ones. Ark and Invidia are great sounding as well. There are lots of sound clips and videos in the link falconfixer provided

Congrats on the purchase and welcome.
I went with the post maf hoses from Mishimoto, they cost a lot less and are identical to the Z1 motorsports brand. I got them from Jomer at FBNISSAN here on the forums. Ive had them for a couple thousand miles and theyre holding up well. I also put K&N filters on as well. But dont expect any serious gains. To be honest, I didnt notice any, but you wont notice a few hp.

What will make it sound better when standing around the hood? Right now it sounds like a sewing machine with just K&N filters. Also... whats the maintenance on the filter? I haven't touched it since they were put on..

I've been running the Jim Wolf Technology intakes (Jim Wolf Technology 370Z Dual Pop Chargers Sale! Check it out!) for a little over 10K miles and have had no problems. Dealer told me it would not void warranty. Installed myself (snug fit) but happy with the results. I noticed an immediate improved throttle response (drive by wire is sluggish) and the sound is outstanding. IMO they were a good buy. 30K between service. Here is their website:
