I really like to think I'm more responsible than all those fools showing off their cars for no reason. But I can't say that, others would have to say it for me. No tickets yet, hahaha.
I definitely understand the "sense of speed," at least to some degree. I was in second and going to 3500 RPM and I was at 40mph already... plus you can barely even see the speedometer because the steering wheel blocks it. It's so small that I feel it's going 20mph even though it's really at 45-60mph, just the scale is so small compared to most luxury coupes that I've been driving.
I've already had cars rev at me and give me the "look," then I rev just a bit and smile... then I start normally and laugh my *** off as they shoot off the line and either stop really fast, get caught by a cop (first time experiencing that... such a wonderful feeling, makes your day just so much better), or damage their car (I've smelt plenty a burnt clutch). Where I live is full of higher income people, so I see a fellow Z driver, usually a 350Z, and I smile and wave, and they're like, "nice car man, how does it feel" and I'm just like "yeah, it's a wonderful car."
very good to hear..glad you are enjoying your Z!! I went to Nissan to check out SUVs for my sisters first car...there was a white Z there and my dad was likee "whoa! I didnt know they sell porsches here"...love that feeling of other ppl getting pulled over trying to race you...i enjoy it..almost as much as cooking...

How ironic it is to remember back to my first dealer visit and hear these words:
"Kids are bringing their parents and buying cars like Mitsubishi EVOs and Subaru WRX's... and then they crash them going 90 on a local road. But see, the 370Z looks fast. The EVO and WRX are fast too, but they look like a family sedan! And you get the added security of much better steering and braking. With a car that goes fast, it needs to stop fast... so at least you already know this car is capable of high speed."

hahahahaha...

Nice to see another Chicagoan nabbing a Z. Which dealership did you pick yours up at? How did it go? VPP?

I went to Autobarn Nissan up in Evanston. They sell Mazdas and WVs too, so I figured it would be a mess, but it seems each name had it's own offices. I had decided to go there after I had visited Rosen Nissan in Gurnee and Liberty Auto Plaza in Libertyville. Those two places were pretty bad, according to a lot of reviews, they'd sell you the car and be nice or okay through all of that, then they'd basically never talk to you again.

Evanston to my knowledge was pretty great; spent five - six hours there... just knocking off dollars like mad... they never lost their patience (although you can tell they're just getting tired), and they brought out two sales associates, their sales manager, and the financial manager... even the general manager. They're good people, and they've pretty much given me a lot to expect from a dealer.

I'm one that hates acryonyms so I never figure them out, but clarify, VPP?

Nice, I've heard good things about Autobarn Evanston. VPP is Nissan's vehicle purchase program. A search of the forum should bring up a lot of threads; one of our forum members, Robert, has been offering it to all of us here: For those ready to buy a 370/other new Nissan or Infiniti Vehicle

I was informed late; or rather, I did not know about this before purchase, so I would be unable to get you any information on that.

I'm wondering if we should hit up Autobarn. Is it a large dealership?

It is more or less massive. Do find Mr. Khan (Mo Khan) and "Desi." They're both people whom I had worked with for six hours with my parents to negotiate a deal and they're very patient people. Autobarn Nissan is on the street, along with a Mazda and a VW there, all part of Autobarn. It's huge but each make has their own office.

Tell them a Phil Cheon with a Silver 370Z sent you. They'll treat you right.
