Ah... that new car smell...
Hey everyone... just joined this forum. I'm likely the youngest member around at just under 17 years old...
Regardless, I am not one of those idiot high school kids who don't know a damn thing about cars at all. That being said, I am indeed a purist; this 370Z of mine is going to see the best damn treatment where in the Midwest (and the only 370 I've seen is my own, but there's quite a few 350's around here). If anything, a mod I'd get is a Cobb AccessPORT once it is released for the 370Z. As a car enthusiast as well, I plan to do as much DIY I can with a few friends I know who have worked on cars since my age and are now in their mid-20's. Here are some pictures of my garaged 6-speed Brilliant Silver 370Z Touring. EDIT: 2009 Nissan 370Z Touring in Brilliant Silver, 6-speed manual, Sport Package, no Navigation. welcome! you know, the new car smell in the z wasn't as strong as I remember it. Maybe it has something to do with that news story a year ago that new car smell was really just a bunch of toxic chemicals.

I don't think I've been having the runs recently. So, maybe it isn't toxic chemicals?
It really just smells like fresh unwrapped leather (bought completely new; 18 miles at time of purchase). |

thats because you gotta use tons of chemicals to protect the rubber floor mats and dash board, i did that to my cars and it felt like someone punched my face each time i open the door for like a week, then the smell went away after a month and a half.

Nice car. I don't see anything wrong with enjoying the car at your age or any age really, but it tends to be an issue on Z forums for some reason.
With that said, no need to list your age, then ask people not to be jealous or condescending. Don't see the point in that. |

I know the feeling... I don't know what my dealer did for their "AutoGard" but it doesn't smell too bad. I remember when my parents had bought a new car back in 2005; they had the same scotchgard or whatever procedure done and every time you stepped in the car... then decided to inhale, it would smell like melting plastic and burning hair... for two months. We even left the windows open all the time and the garage smelled like garbage and plastic and that peculiar Asian ethnic food smell...
EDIT: Well, the whole issue with younger people driving high performance cars and doing stupid things with them isn't exactly a rare issue either. I suppose the asking is stupid though. Even around here there's tons of ricers... no respectable high end tuners. Just ricers. In Mustangs and Civics. Sad, really. Last edited by 370Z Purist; 06-14-2009 at 03:35 PM.
