Picked up this Pearl White 6MT base 370z up a couple weeks ago. It's my first car so I'm taking it easy breaking it in...anyone else in NY? I haven't seen any 370'z on the road yet here in Westchester County. I live right on the Fairfield, CT border so I'm hoping to see some soon.

Hi, and welcome to the club. What a fantastic first car! Be careful out there...

You and I are near-neighbors. I too have a Pearl White (grey interior) and live in Ridgefield, CT on the NY border. Have NOT seen any on the road, but I guess they'll be common soon based on my dealer's commentary on sales.

You might see if you can hook up with one of the local clubs to try it out on a track. I've been going up to Lime Rock for several years with the Audi Quattro Club for driver's days. It's a fantastic way to discover what you and your car can/cannot do! Winter driving school is a hoot too. Amazing what you find you can do on ice & snow!

Best of luck!

There's a white + persimmon 7AT that will briefly be in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery tomorrow afternoon, FWiW.

Good photos with the base rims. Most people don't realize how good these look (or how practical they are for NYC streets).

I was looking for a red/blue/black but there were none in the area. The dealer said they would look as far as Virginia for one so I bit the bullet and ended up getting the white one they had at the dealership. After a wash I fell in love with the white it really shines when the sun is out. I get a ton of compliments on it and head turns all the time so I'm happy.

The roads around here are terrible, I ended up getting the tire/wheel insurance just in case. It would be nice to have the sport pkg with the nicer wheels but 27.5 was supposed to be my limit and I went over that by a couple thousand haha.

For some reason, white seems to make the car more approachable. If you had a hot color (ie., yellow, blue, red) people might be intimidated, but "pearl" is just a safe, gorgeous tone, and they'll walk up and start talking unprompted. Happened to me 3X today. (I thought the teenage grocery cart clerk was going to ask permission to pleasure himself.)

Hmm. OK, this will help on rim replacement, but the sad news for you is that the rubber is going to be gone too soon for you to cash in. Check the treadwear rating on "Yokohama Advan Sport", a summer tread design, and you may be shopping for rubber this fall. What I'm planning to do is go to tirerack.com for Goodyear F1 Eagle All-Seasons when I've put 15K on these shoes, and see how they last into the winter. (I would prefer Michelin Pilot A/S Plus or Bridgestone RE960AS Pole Positions, both of which we've had on other cars, but tirerack doesn't carry this tire in the staggered sizes we need.)

Down here on the shore, halfway to Atlantic City, the winters are usually a lot milder than inland, and definitely milder than Westchester. If you're going to try to keep it as a winter daily driver, you'll probably take off the front l & r wheel "spoilers" which serve as snowplows in the slush.

I'm envious: I really wanted to get the Persimmon interior with my Pearl White. The gray is starting to grow on me though. The black was a bit too much like living in a hole, for me.

Dobermans are to other breeds like the Z is to ... other cars. I was thinking about this and the general OT-ic nature of the comment, and it struck me -- the Dobe is halfway btw a greyhound and a Rottweiler, and "highly styled", but an all-around, good, working class dog. And the Z is somewhere between a Corvette and a run of the mill daily driver, with pronounced haunches.

Though the Z is called a catfish and other names ... and there's no apparent visual relationship to any particular dog breed, especially Pinschers ... it just sticks in my mind, that they are very much alike in purpose.

You are so very fortunate to have a young lady! This guy runs (owns) the house. ;p (Once you've had a Doberman, it's hard to change breeds.)
