New Owner of a 2009 370z Black

just purchased my 2009 370z sport package with 21k miles in black for 26k. my first impression is....loved it. I traded in my 2011 Tacoma TRD Sport package for it and the only regret i have is not being able to run things over without worrying.

Ive owned 2 VWs in the past, an 05 GTI 1.8T with some minor mods as well as a 77 VW rabbit with a 2.0 16v swap from a scirroco. the 370z is by far the funnest car i have owned.

I have a lot to learn about this car still, so feel free to feed me any information you think would be helpful.

thanks,
D

21K miles, no navigation. there was a grey 370z with navi for $25k and it had 32k miles, but i really wanted black so I went with this one.

I would really like to have the OEM navi system installed though. Im currently using my phone thru the AUX port to listen to music and its a PITA to change songs. It would be great if i could hook up my IPOD so i can utilize my steering wheel controls.

quick question, would it be ideal for me to get an oil cooler now? im reading 200 degrees on my temp gauge during normal driving (mixed in with a few pulls here and there lol).

another dumb question, what does HFC stand for? i see a lot of people with stillen HFCs on this board.

If you aren't going to drive the car hard, don't worry about the oil cooler. If you plan on track days or spirited mountain runs, look into getting one.

High Flow Cats.

Apparently the choke down in the exhaust system is the factory converters.
I just picked a used pair up. They also open up the exhaust note so you can actually hear the car.

Welcome!

i'll probably hold off for a few months before i start throwing **** on the car. enjoy it in stock form while i can. Maybe get some coils, wheels and a catback system by early next year.

Someone on this board did a how-to on adding iPod controls with a ~$130 add-on box. Look in the TECH/AUDIO&VIDEO forum.

Congrats on your purchase. Welcome to the obsession.

If you plan on driving your car hard, I highly suggest an oil cooler.

awesome, i'll have a look. can i use my steering wheel controls with this add-on? I think that's the only thing that concerns me.

i'll definitely pick up an oil cooler soon. I won't be doing any hard driving in the meantime.
