I'm just clarifying what is actually the case.

engine break-in is generally done at the factory, second, even if it wasn't... pistons are settled against the cylinder wall well within the first 25 miles...

Can You Give Us More Info?

danegrey,
Please post getting your new 2012 to this thread attached below. I am trying to figure out production dates and delivery times. Can you give us your car's actual build date (dealer can supply), the actual day it arrived, and the aprox VIN# (I don't expect you to give out the exact number, but if you could tell us if it's like close to #50 or #100 or what ever, that would be a big help).

Thanks --- Bonzo

Oh yeah, and EVERYONE here would love to see pictures of the oil cooler.

Echoing what everyone else is asking: we'd really like details/pics on the new factory-standard oil cooler solution. Can you take a peek / snapshot straight down between the radiator and the front of the engine (for any hoses headed from the radiator towards the oil filter area on the bottom), and/or of the underside oil pan/filter area with the plastic under tray removed (something like 16 little bolts around the edges of it, it's easy to take on and off if the car's on ramps).

Did they really put an oil cooler in the 2012's?? And if so, maybe Nissan will drop the costs to have one installed?? P robably not but wishful thinking...

Is this something particular to the Z or are you speaking of all cars? I just ordered a Mustang and pretty much everyone still see's metal filings in their oil up to 1000 miles.

Metal filings are going to be there for the first 3-5k no matter what. Keeping the revs low is not necessary though.

Read up on piston seating, etc.

When I broke in my freshly built f20's we would run them to redline on the third pull. Lasted for hundreds of drag passes.

The car is still at the dealer, I pick it up on Thursday. I didn't have anyone to drive my 91 mustang gt home and I am in Cleveland OH the today and Wednesday visiting family.

My question, I didn't know anything about the oil cooler in buying the car, can you all give me a hint.

How I got the car:
I walked into the dealership, I had an appointment to talk to someone, told them I was interested in the MT, they took me to the back lot and showed me two 2012's that were still wrapped in plastic and not even prep. They said they had gotten them in a couple of days ago, (probably late last week). They had the color I wanted (Black Cherry) and sport setup. So I spent the next 6 hours working and going over with them and getting the deal. I hope that helps a bit on the history of the car, will get the rest later.

more later

as to break in, there is going to be some miles put on the car to get it broken in a bit.
i also going to try to take it easy (dreaming), but its a chance to play. :)

I want to see pics of these Brake ducts.
