370Z low rev lag

I have a 2009 370Z base. I got it in almost new condition with 9G miles. I previosly owned a 2005 350 Z. I have noticed a lurching in low revs below 3000 RPM. As soon as the engine hits 3000 it takes off like a rocket. The 350 low RPM's never acted like the 09 370Z. My dealer says that's the way the new engine is and saw no codes. Any fixes ?? as I'm very disappointed in the perforance of this 332 HP sports car.

There is noticeably less power below 3000 rpm compared to the VQ35. The engine has been designed for peak power at higher RPM which unfortunately means losing a little bit of the low end even with the variable valve timing.

There should be no lurching though, power delivery should be smooth. Any modifications from the previous owner?

Not that I know of . The car was in awesome shape and was not driven too much. It sometimes lurches and loses power for a second or so at low RPM. I told the dealer twice to check this and the answer was the same. "It's the way it is " ???

Just make sure the traction control isn't getting activated, especially on corners as it will feel like this. You should see the slip light flash in the center of the tachometer.

I can't say I've had much experience with my 370 yet, as it's still on order, but I test drove one not too long after an 06 350. This kinda sounds like me when I got in the 370 the first time. I found that I had to be really careful with the clutch, otherwise it would kind of lurch on me as I released it. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not used to driving standard sports cars, or even automatic ones for that matter (used to bagging the **** out of the trucks at work). Anyhow, long story short, I felt like it was how I was using the clutch that created that lurching you're speaking of.

You need a tune! Look here: http://www.the370z.com/canada/40765-...dyno-tune.html

I was having similar problems and the UpRev tune seems to have solved the "wall" at low RPM's.

Good luck!
