title transfer. how long did it take?
Ok so I own and 00 svt contour. love the car. Its getting old so last thursday I found an 09 370 base w/sports pack 6mt for 23g, STEAL. 378 miles on it. I purchased it last thursday the 19th. I still do not have the car. Th owner still owed money on it so the bank has the title and its taking super long for them to realease it. The owner already got a letter that says his loan has been payed off but the title bereau will not release it yet. Has anyone elese had this problem and how long did it take? im getting frustrated!!

+1 Risky business there.
I've made transactions like this before. If it was a local bank we all went to the nearest branch and had the transaction at the bank, and the title was transferred to me along with the car at that time. When I sold my SRT6 Crossfire, the buyer had to fly in from Virginia, so we did all of the funding at my local Chase and he drove the car home. Signed BOS and other legal paperwork protected us that the transactions had been made. The title had to be mailed to me first from Chase, so I could sign it, then I mailed it to the new buyer. But the bank was basically the middle man.

But to answer your question title transfers for me have taken anywhere from two weeks to almost three months, and that was from a dealer. But once the vehicle is paid off and all liens payed, it should be released. Do you know who has the title? They should release the title to the "previous" owner immediately, to be signed over to you.
Remember of course I am in Texas, so these are Texas situations.
