My Z story
I'm a car guy. I've been a car guy for 30 years. Unfortunately, I've always had less cash than needed to make it a real hobby, so I read car mags, and try to get a test drive in friends cars whenever possible, to see how they compare.
I've always been a fan of the Z, starting back from the 280Z days. The 300's were some of my favorites, especially after I got to take a 300ZX Turbo out for a ride. Damn those were nice cars. I remember when the 350Z came out. Took me a while to get used to the shape. But, again, I got to drive one, and Nissan really did a good job of keeping their classic sports-car line up to date. When the 370Z was released, I knew I had to have one. I spent quite a bit of time keeping up with the forums and car-reviews, and when I finally took one for a loooooooooong test drive, that was pretty much it. But, I had to wait. I was at the point where I had the means to get a Z, but the smart thing to do was to wait to pay off our 2 current cars, and, living in Milwaukee, I wanted to do it right. If I was going to get a true sports car, it would be a summer car, with all that goes with car storage, etc. And, as a sign from above, right as the last payment was made, Nissan finally came out with some serious incentives on the Roadster. And, we all know that the Z's almost never get on the incentive list. So, finally, after decades of being a Datsun/Nissan Z fan, my wife and I have our 2010 Roadster. Yeah, I know, it's a convertible, and it's an automatic, but it's fully loaded, and it's without a doubt, the best sports car I've ever personally owned. It's the kind of car that makes you smile when you first see it in the morning, and again when you hit the START button. The car reviews were right, this is a great car for the money. It drives like a real sports car, and yet it's a perfect daily driver (in non-snow months). And I've always wanted a drop-top for summer. With the Z Roadster I have both. I want to send a personally thx to everyone on the Z forums who put up with my questions over the many months I've been floating around. It's amazingly cool to know the car inside and out before you even drive it home. Here's a quick pic I took from the dealer before it went in for the final prep. |
