Default New 370Z owner in Denver!

Just bought a Pearl White 2009 base model with low miles. It's in Cali so I'm shipping it to Denver this week. Pretty excited since this is my first sports car, finally old enough (36) to stop dreaming (and making enough money ha) to be able to get one. Couple questions for you guys:

1) I always used a Puralator Pureone oil filter on my vehicles. I assume this is a better filter than the Nissan OEM?

2) Also use Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum. From the UOA's over at my350Z it seem these are good options for this engine but maybe Castrol Edge is a little better? Looking to stay with a synthetic that is available at most any auto store.

3) What is a good air filter for these? Looking mostly for filtering ability with no loss in power, but I'm not looking to increase power. Some of the K&N's are nice for flow but not so nice for filtering ability. I usually use Fram Toughguard oiled filters on my truck, but not sure if they will maintain the same flow as stock Nissan?

4) When the time comes to maintain the brakes, can the Sport brakes be fitted without modification? Is there a better aftermarket solution?

5) These are direct injection engines correct? I've seen some pretty scary pics of these DI engines fouling valves because they don't have fuel to wash them, so is the PCV flow filtered at all? A buddy of mine with a Camaro SS says he thinks his is oil filtered, and has to be changed on the service schedule. The 370Z similar?

6) If I go with 19" wheels and around 295-305 rear tires, how much does this impact the power compared to the smaller 18"? It looks like the circumference of the 18" base model is about the same as the Sport's 19", so I assume the rear end gear ratio is the same for both?

7) Any good bang for the buck power mods that won't void the warranty?

8) Any other maintenance tips for new owner?

Thanks,
Brandon

Congrats on the purchase. Not many 370's around here. I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.

1) yes the Puralator filter is better. I use the Mobile 1 M1-108.
2) Mobile 1 has been great for me. Although I'm considering amsoil.
3) The K&N's are pretty well reviewed here. I went with the Injen long tube intake.
4) I believe you would need different rims to clear the sport brakes. Maybe spacers would do?. There are aftermarket options though.
5) The 370Z is not Direct injection.
6) I'm not very well versed in wheel / tire combos.
7) Most bolt ons don't give huge gains but Test pipes/ high flow cats and an aftermarket intake are a good start for 20+ HP. If you go K&N drop in filters you can get Post MAF tubes to increase the gain.
8) Just have fun with it.

Intrigue Detail (Tijon & Amhurst - Englewood area) just did mine, finished tonight. Give me a couple days to report quality but so far it looks good. They were pricey but I had a lot of sections clear bra'd.

IDS around Sante Fe and 470ish came recommended by the Z car club (ZCCC.org).

I got my tint at Eclipse Tinting for $190 ($20 off coupon at Eclipse Tinting :: Automotive, Residential, and Commercial Tinting). They are in Lafayette. I was really happy with the results.

So what do you think of the quality? BTW yellowpages.com does not show an IDS in Denver. Do you know the full name? Is it also an Intrigue Detail (or just a coincidence on the spelling)? I only see the one Intrigue Detail on Tejon on yellowpages.com

Coincidence... Here you go.

IDS
8071 - suite B, S. Broadway
Littleton, CO 80122
(303) 734-4500

Intrigue Detail
2777 S. Tejon St
Englewood, CO 80110
303-482-1266
Services of Intrigue Detail – Denver Automobile Detailing – Best Detail Shop Around

I went to Intrigue and would absolutely go there again for window tinting, they got it right the first time but they were also about $100 more than the cheap place I took my WRX to (which has more windows...). The cheap place had to redo my WRX a 2nd time.

This was the first 370z clear bra they did and although their customer services is tip top, the clear bra has some remaining 'curing' to do and needs to sit out in the sun more before I can confirm if they did a good job or not. Fitment, cutting, alignment are all perfect but there are grooves in the clear bra that are supposed to 'smooth out' at some point. They said it could take a few weeks. Most of the bubbles have worked their way out and it's shaping up, I need to wash it and really look at it however.

They assured me that they will do whatever it takes to make sure I'm happy with their work. Since they seemed a bit pricey I will be taking them up on it. Again, customer service was really good there, so I feel that I won't have any issues.

Hey man, if you're still looking for a window tint shop in Denver...I've used these guys for my 370Z and my BMW X5. They do great 3M work and will go nice and dark - if that's your thing.

Denver Window Tint
2201 S Parker Rd
Denver, CO 80231
303-751-9310

I also have a great body shop for aftermarket paint and installs. I had to do some searching but am really happy with the Seibon CF wing they painted and installed for me earlier this month.

Apex Auto Body
5809 W. Colfax Ave
Lakewood, CO 80214
303-462-2739

Let me know if you find a good wheel shop. I'm hunting for some new wheels, right now.

You guys are awesome thanks! I assume Intrigue is 3M clearbra? I got a quote from them, not cheap but seems reasonable if the work is good.

Thanks for the body shop tip, never know when you might need those guys, and we all want it done right on the Z. I'm going through Performance Wheel and Tire on Santa Fe. Their website doesn't show much of a selection but they can get the Bridgestone tires and Avant Garde wheels I want, so probably going with them over mail order.
