New 370Z in Seattle Area.

Picked up my new 370Z Saturday, sorta by accident. I mean, I wasn't really considering the 370Z but I got a deal I really couldn't refuse, so I thought what the heck, give it a shot.

I know next to nothing about the Z but I'm not new to cars, driving, or the VQ motor.

Looking forward to learning some, and driving her this spring/summer.:driving:

Sorry about the huge image size... Freaking iPad...

Congrats on your new ride! Looks good. There's a bunch of Seattle guys that meet at Southcenter Barnes & Nobles on the weekends. You should check out the few Seattle posts and hook up with them.

I'm trying to move out to your area...but it will require finding a job out there first. Anyway, just wanted to say...

Welcome to the forum! We do meets every so often even in Winter…did one last Saturday before the big snow. Just do a search on "Seattle" and you'll see some postings by the locals.

congrats

also what's the best way to break-in the engine, I heard for the first 500 Kms, try not to rev more than 4,000 RPM ?

Thanks for the good words folks.

Matador, FWIW, through a couple decades of New Motorcycles and New cars, I've found an aggressive, High Load Break in to produce the best results. This doesn't mean Spinning it to rev limiter, what more important is variable high loads, and engine braking. Using lots of both has always provided me with motors that use no oil, produce good dyno numbers and last a long time.

However, there is so much discussion/argument about break-in on the web and I am sure this forum that all you need is a search to find dozens of opinions.

Per factory though, I believe it said something like what you've posted.

Thanks Revlis,

by the way, what do you mean by variable load/high load break in, you meant I can occassionally rev it beyond 6,000 RPM, as long as I don't stay at high rev long ?

Congrats, man! Glad to see there's some serious 370 representation in Seattle. I'm moving back there myself this summer. Had enough of this New England winter BS.

No not really. While I personally do not live in fear of high RPMs during break in, what I am talking about really doesn't have much to do or need high RPM.

By high load I mean full throttle in third gear from about 2500-4500/5000RPM. Never Bog a new motor, but essentially lots of full throttle pulls through the meat of the powerband then letting it coast back down from 4-5K RPM to 2K RPM.

There's no need for high RPMs, you just want to subject the rings to good heavy loads early. The coasting back down is beneficial as well.

welcome...

just curious, what was the "good deal"?

I want to see what they are offering now.

All said and done: 6spd, Touring with sport package, Nav, floor mats, rear mat, illuminated kick plates, Nismo pads.

Right around $36K OTD, Original sticker was $42,190.

Was just too easy, and a good 10-20k less than just about every other option on my short list. Made me grin, and that's what it is all about with a toy like this.

Not bad for the local prices!
