2000 mile ride home from dealership
Local dealers were selling only at msrp. So I flew from Seattle to Fontana near LA and bought a silver sport package stick for $2000 off msrp. Had to hit the wonderful roads of Julian and Mt Palomar, coastal #1 past Hearst Castle and the elephant seals, and then camped at Big Sur along the river. After seeing a friend in Sacramento, I took off I-5 at Red Bluff on fabulous #36 toward Eureka pushing the 140 miles of curves all the way (think Tail of the Dragon for 140 miles). Then on to Callahan, Yreka and home.
Incredible car in the twisties, better on the freeways than I expected, noisy on the rough OR stretches of I-5, 22mpg, great napping car at rest stops, impervious to the weather and just as fun as my ST1300. |
sounds like a hell of a road trip! congrats!

Couldn't think of a better way to break the car in. That's great!

That sounds like an awesome road trip.

That's just perfect! I really can't think of a better way to buy a car. Also, this way, you learn a lot about your recently purchased car. ANyway, feel free to share some pictures :pics: with us. Silver is my long time favorite color but this time I switched things around. Good to have you here on The370Z.com. :hello: If you have any question, feel free to ask.

Safe to say I am sufficiently jealous, sounds like an incredible trip on incredible roads.
Welcome to the site and congrats on the purchase, I look forward to seeing some pictures. |
Nice road trip!
I didn't have to drive too far to get $1200 below MSRP in Western WA. I think your road trip was a great idea though. Late summer I'm looking forward to the twisties around Rainier. Welcome to the forum! |

I'll try one and see if this works. New to system, anyone know how to get the picture to appear? Thanks, Phil |

Sorry about the photos
Still can't get a photo to show on this thread. I'm wondering if I have to cut the photos down in size from my pocket Olympus. I've read the directions but it always comes down to something about being educated beyond my intelligence.
Anyway there is a photo of lots of snow piled 10 feet high along side the road, a 15 foot in diameter redwood next to my 6 foot tent, and those dancing girls that come out with the stars to sing happy songs about my new silver 370Z. Sorry you missed these, maybe one of these days. Phil |
They should automatically resize for you. You can always try adding some to an album on here or Photobucket.
|
either that or you can upload your pictures to Flickr and post up the links.

So what was the tax situation buying in California? I researched it, as the car I wanted was in LA, but seemed I would have to pay CA sales tax unless I had it trucked out of the state. I'm not sure if I would have been taxed again when I registered it in AZ. I ended up buying in Nevada, no taxes, and got a 15 day transport permit. I will be paying taxes in AZ.
