New 370Z owner with questions
Just bought myself an early Christmas present 2 days ago. I am a first time Nissan owner. I purchased the 2011 370Z (Brilliant Silver) with Touring/Sport package, Nav, Automatic Transmission, Carpeted floor/trunk mats and Illuminated kick plates. So far I love this car!
My questions are: I paid $38,600 for this car and was able to get 2.99% for 5 years. Does this seem like a good price? Also is it worth it to get an extended warranty with this car? When I had my Camry I was able to get my Toyota warranty from out of state dealers and was able to save lots of money. Are there cheaper places to get a warranty for this car? My local dealer offered me a deal for $1450 and this covered all of the scheduled maintenace for 3 years. I didn't seem like a good deal but I welcome other opinions. He told me there price for an oil change was $99 for the 370Z. Are oil changes really that expensive for this car? |
I did one Ester change at my dealer and it cost me $92. That's why I only did it once.
Nissan "recommends" the Ester oil, but personally I think it's a snake oil sale. There are other oils that have Ester in them (Mobil 1 and others) that are a whole lot cheaper than the $14/qt that my dealer charged. If you drive a gazillion miles and they actually cover it for 36 months without a mileage limit, it's probably a good deal. If not, I don't know that I'd waste the money. The best way to tell is figure out what all services they do along with the prices of said services, then compare to the contract. Trust me, they sell those to make money, but if you drive a lot, you'll beat 'em. |
I have free oil changes for life. Who cares what u pay as long as you are happy. Enjoy the Z and welcome.

I got the extended warranty because the engine is incredibly complicated on this car, but I got the dealer to include it on my used purchase. You can estimate the value of the maintenance (I'd check to make sure the are including a Nissan ester oil change) based on your yearly mileage, but it sounds like the Nissan Maintenance plus plan to me, which is just service, and not an extended warranty.
If you tend to keep your cars, I would get a true extended warranty like a 7/70 plan instead. |
