New 370Z Owner.....California's High Desert
Hey all of you! I'm new to the "Z" world. I came close to purchasing an '06 350Z in March of 07. The dealer wanted list.....it was a dealer trade.......it went bad.....nuff said. I'm SO glad It went bad! This newer, more powerful Z is a much better car, without that horrible strut tower brace that used to stretch across the cargo area......jeeez. After reading many favorable reviews of the '09 model, I decided to explore the possibilities of ownership. My local Nissan dealer here is a joke, so a friend suggested that I contact a broker that he had used in his business vehicle puchases. After contacting him and telling him the specific car I was interested in,( 370Z Touring, Blue, 6sp, NO nav.), he informed me that these new Z's were just getting here, and getting the one I wanted was going to be difficult, let alone getting a break over MSRP. He then informed me that mark-ups were common with Z's even in these times.....not good. I almost fainted the very next day when he called to inform me that the exact car I wanted could be mine......for list, if I hurried! I quickly said "of course!". He drove up here form Upland CA the next day to pick me up, in an MB S class, and we returned to his small lot and took care of all the paperwork. I then saw my car pull in.....new, shiny, beautiful. I was instantly in love with the color I chose........gawd it's a nice blue! Even my broker got excited when it pulled in. Since he got it for me, and provided a rather pleasant buying experince, I let him take it out for some "stick time". He said it was a "Cayman S for half the price", and he would know. I've never really had a real sports car before, let alone something of this caliber, and I absolutely love every minuite that I spend in this car. I like taking Day-Tours through So. California, and this car is a real charmer. Very comfy, capable, and a joy to drive. I paid cash for my Z, I plan on keeping it for a long time, and I don't think I could have made a better choice for my hard earned cash. What a great car! I hope all of you folks are enjoying yours as much as I am!

I have a photo album posted. A few images from my "shakedown" cruise to Joshua Tree National park in CA. Looks like yours is fully equipped. I'm an older guy that still relies on maps, so the "Nav" thing saves me some cash. I don't miss the "blip" when I'm downshifting, and stock handling is excellent. The heated seats are very useful on colder windy days in the High Desert. I got those fancy "Z" kick panels that light up, and the cargo protector, as well as the "Z" floor mats. For 35 large, I can say I gotz my money's worth, for sure!
