Up shift indicator light

The up shift indicator light on the tach starts flashing when I’m in 6 gear at 90+ mph for more then a few minutes or so. The preset was 4000 rpms I changed it to 4500 rpms. Any thoughts on this, good or bad.

Ignore what that guy said. He's just messing with you. It's just an indicator light so as long as the blinking doesn't bother you, it's fine. It's kind of stupid how it would still be active in 6th gear though. I guess the car wants you to add another gear.

You shouldn't be hitting 90 on public roads anyways, but thats none of my business.

6th gear is overdrive. my understanding is that the car tops out in 5th gear.

I'm just saying why have it turn on, blink or otherwise in sixth gear at all. It's suppose to indicate where you should shift up to the next gear. I suppose it sort of reminds you not to run it at high rpm's for too long where it's prone to overheat the oil.

Or are you screwing with people's heads too?

It's bad that its blinking. Mine doesn't do that when I'm 90 it should only blink when you redline.

You do know that you can adjust what rpm it blinks at right? It's set at redline from the factory.

My bad, didn't read all the posts. Reading this from a cellphone.

wilsonp 11-01-2010 05:56 PM

So shouldn't it be adjusted much higher than 4500 RPM?

Thanks for all the feedback. As you guys probably already know ( I just found out) its preset at 4000 rpms so it flashes at 3500 rpms and stays on at 4000rpms. I obviously shift before this occurs. I reset it to 4500rpms so the light doesn’t come on. Car is still new to me so I’m learning new things about it as I go. I was just a little surprised to see it come on in 6th gear even at 90 mph.

Doing 90 or 30 MPH, it doesn't matter. The light will come on whenever you exceed your set RPM (whatever you set to). Also, calm down. You're driving a little too fast on those public streets. I mean, we all do it sometimes but it's def restricted to discuss here on the forum.

Ok sorry no more mention of mph
