What is it about Z Cars?
 

New 370 Z owner; 2009, Solid Red, Coupe with Sports Package, 7AT. Got a great price (33K) on a 2009 leftover with 80 miles and do I ever love this car. After 6 weeks of ownership, I wonder what it is about Z cars that make every adolescent, Dale Jr. wannabe think their Mazda 3 or 5, Hundai Genesis, Subaru Impreza, etc can and should be kicking my a** whenever they see the red Z? Beyond me...Any thoughts? BTW...great board with many knowledgeable folks.

You have people in N/A Mazda 3 /5's and Impreza’s trying to race? The N/A 4 cyl are one thing, the Turbo 4's another. The Speed 3 and STI don't require much to make pretty quick (they’re actually actual equals “stock” from a roll-on with the STI being quicker from a stop obviously). I surprise the hell out of people in the MS3 quite often because they think it's just a regular Mazda 3 and doesn't look sporty at all really. The expression on their face after words is priceless. I’ve learned to never under-estimate cars based on their looks because you never know what kind of work has been done to them. Fast looking car doesn't always mean fast car and slow looking car doesn't always mean slow car. But why stock N/A 4 CYL cars harass you is beyond me. Just show them whos boss and maybe they'll stop.

Funny enough, no one around here has tried to to goad me into a race except for some dude in a modded 350Z (brilliantly attempted by him while we were on a busy road in the midddle of the afternoon... duh :facepalm: )

I had an 07' speed 3 for 3 years and not a single person tried to race me. Then the moment I drove the 370 off the lot and hit the highway. some rice bomb s2k starts pacing me. haha

I hate STI's (not literally). got my a** handed to me by one 2days ago at the track...horrible conditions and i was running .6-.8 slower then usuall. got pretty upset. Anyway stay away from the sti and evo at the track. there launch is sick, dont underestimate that car. lol. N/A 4 cylinders messin with you:shakes head: takem out man. they will learn there lesson like i did with the 12 second STI. :wtf2: 370z is a great car, and ppl eyeball it all the time. makes me feel like the man :happydance: and weman will want to ask for your number. :tup::tup:

I have an NA Mazda 3, and I would be happy to race any Z, including my own (with a half hour head start and a tail wind).

You'll love the Z and the attention it gets (no one ever once asked me how fast my Mazda would go. Probably because it lacks Miata doors).

But it does have that Mazda build quality that we have all come to know!
