Default synthetic or not

I have a new 370 and the owners manual does not specify synthetic oil. I know once you start with synthetic you can't go back.

Should I move to synthetic oil or stay with convential 5-30 API ? Am I buying more protection or just waisting money?

It's up to you. There are tons of oil threads on the board where people fight to the death about which oil is best.

Default I just called Nissan U S A

Nissan said Ester is recomended. A service rep at a dealer said ester oil is not necessary unless I drive the car hard. The manual does not indicate any specefic oil.

I'd probably reccomend this thread to help answer your question:
As you will see, there are a lot of different opinions on oil, and getting two people to agree is tough.

Ester Oil for my first oil change
