A few first impressions:
1. All that talk about tire noise? I understand that now. Though I'm willing to accept it as part of owning a 'pure' sports car.
2. Synchro Rev Match? Way cool.
3. Persimmon interior? Also way cool.
4. Rest of the interior? Uber slick.
5. Ride? Not as harsh as I was expecting. But crazy snug / tight.

My wife was following me in her car after I picked it up and told me I snubbed someone in a 350Z Roadster who apparently gave me a nod. If that was you, sorry! I was fixated on not crashing within my first 10 minutes of owning her!

Oh man, I'm giddy! Dream fulfilled! Absolutely no regrets! There is no other car I'd rather have bought!

Oh, and Jeffblue, congrats to you man!

Very nice! Congrats on the new Z -- be careful around those "Roadster drivers", they are a very curious lot.......:icon17:

Agree exactly with what you said .... except it was some kids in a sentra that gave me a nod (and i did notice).... even as i was cutting off the entire toll lane (i realized i forgot my EZ pass at the last minute)

Don't you love the color of the interior tho. its SO nice.... the color is a little more tame than in pictures.

Agreed! Alot of the photos make it look brighter than it is. It gives it a little bit of 'flashy' but no 'gaudy.' I love it!

Is it that bad? I've only had the privilege of driving a 2009 Touring model and while I did notice more noise (be it tire or road noise) compared to my Jetta I didn't find it that bad. I'm really interested in buying one but my main concern is this noise business. Do you find that you can still have a conversation without having to yell at the person next to you (my girlfriend likes chatting in the car)? I'm debating wether to go with a new 370Z or a used G37S because of the whole noise issue (the 370Z seemed more fun to drive because you could actually hear it).

I don't mind the noise. I'm sure the G is quieter, but part of why I buy a sports car is to hear it. My best suggestion is for you to test drive one with a friend and see if the noise level is acceptable to you.

I wouldn't say 'bad.' I can easily live with it but there may be some eye rolling to put up with from my wife. I definitely bought this for me and she gets that (and she loves it too). This car is crazy sexy and a real head turner. It's also an 'event' each time I get in it. I don't think I'd get nearly the same raw feeling in a G. Don't get me wrong - the G is beautiful, but I think the Z will make your heart pound! The tire noise is noticeable, but IMO absolutely bearable for such a purpose built machine. Above 80 km/h it starts intruding on the conversation a bit, but you don't have to yell. Don't let it be a deal breaker! I see a G pretty much every time I'm out. I've seen a 370Z only four times *total* in Ottawa which makes it feel that much more special!

I feel your pain! I hope it goes by fast for you!

Thanks everyone for the warm sentiments! I've been so impressed with this forum. Barely any flame wars and pretty much any slagging I've seen has been the good natured variety!

Red370 05-14-2010 12:57 AM

Man, you sound as excited as I was when I first got mine after lusting after it for 6 months, congrats. So when are you going to start throwing some power adders on that bad boy?

prichardson 05-17-2010 02:25 PM

I think I'm going to ride the Warranty for at least a few more months ;)

Honestly, though, I'm so happy with the way it rides in stock form, that I don't feel much urge to start tricking it out. Plus I'm only about 1000km into my 2000km break-in, so in a couple of weeks it'll be a whole new car all over again!

Red370 05-17-2010 06:55 PM

you do know the whole break-in thing is a load of BS right? Eh, i guarantee after awhile the tameness of the exhaust will start to bother you, you'll need a CBE asap!

prichardson 05-18-2010 12:34 PM

Ahh, good to see the debate continues. To break in or not to break in? I'm inclined to believe that there is less chance of long term harm to my engine if I do than if I don't and I have the patience to do it (though I have given in to temptation a few times).

So far I'm happy with the exhaust sound, but I shall not say 'never'!
