New Z Owner in Austin, TX!
Quick introduction:
My name is Beau, and my great new car's name is King! Im an 18 y/o owner in the Austin, TX area. Come this August, I will be attending Baylor University in Waco where I plan to study Business (hopefully open a mechanic shop decades down the road?). Getting this car is a dream come true and something I have been discussing with my parents for years. Nissan Z's have always had a special place in my heart, and now that I finally get to drive one as my daily, I pinch myself each time I wake up. I'm coming off of owning a 2013 NA Hyundai Veloster, which was a significantly slower but beautifully grippy ride. King is a clean slate for me, and my very first manual transmission car. Though Ive been thoroughly interested in cars for quite awhile, never have I actually had hands-on experience with modifying and taking care of my car. I pretty much only know the statistics for hundreds of car models and car make history :icon14:. I know practically nothing when it comes to working on a car, but it's the learning experience Im most looking forward to. I'm all for it, and I'm very excited to open the door to the car community with the Z. The car: King is a stock, Black 2011 Nissan 370Z Touring w/ Sports Package and 64,000 miles on the clock. 6-speed manual. The plan: Not quite sure yet. Ive already managed to create a lengthy textedit file with dozens of links and prices for modifications (both performance and appearance) that I'm interested in. The current plan is to save towards a Mishimoto Oil Cooler Fast Intentions Oil Cooler as the first addition to the car (it gets quite hot here in Central Texas, and Z oil temperatures don't seem to be very favorable) then work towards a Stillen Gen 3 Dual Air-Intake and short throw shifter. After that, who knows? If you guys have any insight on what should first be done to the car, let me know! Again, working hands-on with cars is all new to me, so every little bit of information concerning what to do with the car would be greatly appreciated and carefully considered. Can't wait to meet you all, on both forum and the streets. Best wishes, KingZTX |
Congratulations and welcome. :tiphat:

Welcome to the forum fellow local :tiphat:
I help out with basic maintenance and mod installs for a number of other local Z owners. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to contact me. DO NOT get the miSHITmoto oil cooler. It's Chinese garbage, and they will not warranty your blown engine when the O-ring fails and your oil dumps out all over the street. Fast Intentions seems to have the best quality product, but Z1 and Stillen make perfectly capable oil coolers as well. I recommend an exhaust and a tune to go with your intakes. Those three items are the best bang for your buck combo. Add some test pipes and you've basically maxed out your N/A power without heading down the rabbit hole and spending ridiculous money for very little power in return. |
Congrats and welcome!

Welcome to the 370Z forums. Congratulations and definitely research this forum before you purchase any mods for your Z. Don’t get the Mishimoto oil cooler save yourself the misery. There are other brand oil coolers for our cars that are better quality and are efficient.
