Ever cooked a turkey inside your Zed?
New Forum Member & 370Z owner from N. Carolina here ... Hi Folks!
To expand on my nifty title ... this is "sort-a" how I became a recent Z owner. I'm the proud owner of a 2017 370Z Sport in Magnetic Black ... 6-spd ... currently has 1,548 miles on the clock. But not all is peachy ... I acquired mine from Copart w/ a Salvage Title. Someone wasn't too happy with the original owner & set a little camp fire in the passenger seat! I'm currently in the midst of the repair ... in fact, I have the "entire" interior gutted ~ that smoke soot gets everywhere! Sure I'll have lot's of questions now that I can actually post, I've learned quite a bit already and the link to the '16 Service Manual was incredibly helpful. Glad to be a part of the group; and, hopefully my acquisition method will not be frowned upon too badly. I suspect my next post will be a "WTB Seats" post in the classifieds section! |

Congrats on the car man and this site is an amazing place full of knowledge so i am sure you'll make good use of it while you get your car up to 100% Also. Not sure to what extent you have the interior gutted but i would look into sound deadening while you have most of it out, you can quite down road noise as just one benefit among a few others etc.... |

You still looking for Seats?
Welcome to the Z family & check out nandosman's part out. He's selling black leather seats. Originally asked $800 but now best offer. He's in the Chicago area. I don't know him but just wanting to help out two fellow Z lovers.

Aw sure ... thought of doing a Gallery thread on the repair; but, I suppose this will suffice for now.
Story I got via the Insurance Adjuster was this was totaled for vandalism ... somebody got pissed at the original owner & lit the passenger seat. The heat spread & smoke did the majority of the damage - it must have been contained pretty fast. Just off the truck, & covered in Auction Yard mud & dust ... I would've liked to have said "it still had that new-car smell", but ... I guess I'll just have to be happy with the 1,500 miles on the clock. Driver's Door Panel got a little toasty ... Driver's Seat heat damage ... the white stuff on the floor mat is an aromatic baking soda that I placed to cut down that wonderful burnt plastic smell (it didn't help). One thing I learned ... the '17's & newer have a different seat fabric vs. the '16's and older. It's making my desire to stay "model year correct" difficult. Here's where the turkey baked ... the passenger seat. I found remnants of "phone book" in the seat & a NASCAR cig lighter under the seat. I didn't snap any pictures of the headliner and visors, but they got the heat treatment too ... non-reusable to say the least I've gutted the "entire" interior now. Cleaned every inch, and ozone'd the cabin. No odor at all remains at this point. I'm deep-cleaning every reusable part, and sourcing replacements for what is not ... the hard part. |
