2017 370Z Base, Pearl White (Finally!)
Finally pulled the proverbial trigger and bought a Z!
New to me (previously titled briefly in AZ) and I'm new to her so the relationship begins, as per. Question for any late-model owners: are there axle-back exhausts that will NOT void my warranty? I assume so but I do not wish to go into modification without verifying such things. |
First, welcome to the best forum on the interweb and congrats on your new-to-you Z...
Second, any axle-back exhaust that you choose WILL NOT void any warranty (as long as the exhaust didn't cause a direct failure of something). For example, you install your exhaust and the clutch explodes. Since these two items are not related at all, your clutch would be covered. Mine is still covered under an extended warranty until 2020 and I have installed a CBE (cat-back exhaust), HFC (hi-flow cats) and CAI (cold-air intake) and I have no worries that if something failed that was not related to these modifications, I am golden... |

Thank you for the reply! Right on, I basically assumed that the manufacturer would have to be able to trace the fault back to a modification, and that absolutely makes sense, but I suppose that my trepidation comes in not knowing just how creative Nissan dealers would be in attempting to deny warranty claims. I suppose that I will simply have to take the risk if I wish to improve the exhaust sound (thus far the only aspect of the car with which I am not thoroughly enamored). |
Congrats & Aloha!
You'll be fine with an axel back in regards to warranty issue. A big hold up in back pressure is the stock exhaust, remove that and you'll definitely have a better sounding exhaust, plus a slight uptick in power. Got an axel back on mine. |
I appreciate the feedback! I will definitely be looking into doing this sooner than later -)

Welcome :hello:, have fun with the new Z!

Congrats and welcome to the family!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I haven't even decided what modifications to make (maybe a rear lip spoiler to start, if one is even produced) - it's such a massive aftermarket!
