Hello all! I recently purchased a 2016 base model 370z MT and so far couldn't be happier! I traded in my 350z for my current Z and am happy to stay in the family. I'm also going from an auto to a manual which is very exciting and much more engaging.
A few things about my car and my experience with it so far: Bought it at 10,500 miles and it currently has 14k right now. The handling is superb, but it could use bigger tires. The power delivery, ride quality and suspension feels SO much more refined vs. my older 350z. I did have one goof moment when I first got the car I accidentally shifted into 2nd gear going fairly fast on the highway and the RPMs shot up. I don't remember the exact RPMs, but it was scary and I immediately threw it into neutral and braked. I was concerned at the time and still am about the engine since I was going highway speeds and shifted into 2nd by mistake. It's been a few thousand miles since this happened so I don't -think- anything is wrong, but I'm sure everyone on here knows more about that kind of stuff than me. I asked a few friends who have higher performance cars and they said that Zs are built to take high RPMs and if I didn't hold it too long (I didn't) then I should be ok. Are there any other precautions I should do to make sure my engine is good? I almost never get close to redline. Anyway thanks for taking the time to read this! I look forward to contributing and learning about Zs and being a part of this community. They're great cars! |

Meh, many of us have blown a shift once in a while. I wouldn't sweat it too much.
Obviously, if she starts making weird noises or leaking any fluids...
