We are currently waiting the start of season four, which should be some time in march. You have plenty of time to get caught up on the show and start reading the books if you like.

I highly recommend reading the books, it fills in where the show cannot.

I am not so much into reading , so you can tell few things which are missing in series which might tempt me to read those books

I don't know where you're at in the show to be able to tell you what was in the books and not in the show.

I haven't seen any Mammoths (yet) in the TV series. On the other hand the books are absent of the man-on-man sex/attempted rape scenes. (This may be a disappointment to some)

The best example I can think of is the whole Daenerys/Qarth story arch had a lot more going on in the book. Too bad they didn't have Emilia Clarke wear the traditional Qarthen dress they described in the book
