Not quite. The amount of work that went into building that is pretty incredible, likely.

Lol I hate that game, but it's cool that there really isn't any objective. If you YouTube Minecraft, you can find some pretty cool buildings; like a roller coaster!

Yesterday I finished Clash of Kings and I have to say that the story has diverged pretty siginficantly from the HBO series. This IMO is not so bad as I somewhat like a lot of what they do in the TV series better than in the book. Also I feel that reading the rest of the books won't ruin my excitement I feel when anticipating new shows in the future.

( Click to show/hide )

In the book I don't like that Arya kills Roose Bolton's guard to escape Harranhal. It makes her seem a little more evil than clever as she was portrayed in the series.

I do like the Reek/Theon story more in the book, but I think the series couldn't really portray that since it would add too much complexity.

Tyrion as the charge-into-battle warrior (Green Fork and the Battle of Blackwater) wouldn't be all that believable on film...this was the best decision the TV series writers made. Him getting knocked out by the warhammer was pretty funny.

Since they will have Jojen and Meera Reed in next year's casting, why the heck didn't they include them in this past season's show?

The Daenerys story arc is all sorts of messed up, but I actually like what they did in the TV series and I can see why they did it that way....so far.

So for those of you have have read the books and seen the TV series what do you think about the differences? Which story do you like better? To me they captured the general story and the essence of the books which is more to be said for most of the crap that you see on TV and film.

Also, I have noticed that A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons get significantly more negative reviews on Amazon. Does the series really go downhill after A Storm of Swords (which I am starting to read right now)?

I've only read the first book thus far, but I think I enjoy the TV series more up to this point. Ned falling under his horse and hurting his leg was pretty lame compared to that great face off with Jaime shown in the TV series.

If you enjoyed the first two, I wouldn't really worry about the reviews. Even a mediocre George R.R. Martin book is better than most. I enjoyed reading all of them, and I think if you really get how he's trying to structure the whole story, you'll like it. You need to have patience with these books because he does like going into detail a lot. I like it. It makes the story vivid and realistic, but most people see the pace as slow moving. Nothing is ever rushed and things happen when they happen....kind of like in real life.

The HBO series really did a great job and I like how it's been adapted so far. They do have to deal with a budget and time contraints, so it inevitable that they would need to change a few things to keep the story moving.

I found a FforC to be a bit slower than the others but still very good, DwithD was better.

I agree, there are a few instances where HBO decided to jazz things up a bit...that is a great example. The second book diverges a lot more than the first, but it actually makes it more of an interesting read. I have been watching the HBO episodes again while reading through the books.

That is what I figured...I always take any review with a grain of salt, but I figured that I would ask anyway even though I would read the books regardless. The casting I think is superb (but not spot-on) and the production is, well on par with all of HBO's shows (which is great). I can't complain about a quality, epic fantasy with great characters that will be around for at least 5 more seasons.

I can't wait to see Jojen Reed, Meera Reed (I bet she will be hot), Edmure Tully and Brynden Tully next season.

Thanks for the insight!
