200 MPH - The 370Z Movie!
This is the heartwarming story of a guy who "just got promoted to manager" racing his brand-new, stock 370Z against the neighborhood badass with a GTR. Umm... for "pinks". [ IMDB # 1823051 ]
. It's like one of the Fast and Furious movies, without the intellectual baggage or starpower. However, it does show a Z in some nice drifts. You can tell where the car's going because the road is always heavily striped with rubber from prior takes in the filming. And they tend to show the same exact sequence repeatedly, I guess because they had film footage that otherwise would be wasted. . I don't want to give away the plot, other than what's been mentioned above. You will enjoy this -- especially the strategic usage of CGI. . For those who don't want to wait for Netflix, it's in the Usenet divx stream (and probably also a Torrent) as "galaxy-200mph.avi". . Enjoy! |
The synopsis @ Netflix says its a 280z -- but I've noticed those are often written by poeple who haven't seen the movie ... In any event, it is supposed to be available for streaming 5/26

Lol, according to some of the user reviews at IMDB there is a transforming car in the movie -- from an RX-7 to a 240SX but they call it a MX-5. Maybe they wrecked the RX and had to use a 240SX as backup :)

The movie does make me re-evaluate my interest in a GTR, though. (I'm pretty sure that feeling will go away, soon enough. I wanted to acquire a gun after watching a full season of the Sopranos back-to-back, but the gun fancy died in 3 days. About the time I read the licensing requirements to own one in NJ. :) |
Make sure you watch through the end of the credits, it sets up for the sequel. The first time I tried to download this movie some jerkface just uploaded fast five and changed the file name. I didn't like how they kept referring to the vector as an nsx.

Just saw it - pretty sure the Z belongs to a member here.

For pinks the 370 has a tough road ahead. With the 280 you might just as well sign it over directly without a race. I loved my 280 but .... |
Just started watching it on netflix. FIrst three minutes of the movie they described the 370z as costing 80k, 0-60 in 3.5sec, and 193mph top speed.
I can tell this movie will be steeped in realistic situations and dialog :) |

Still later, you'll marvel at how they smooth out the aluminum crumples in a trashed Z! I tell you, this is a really good movie for its kind, certainly better than Nicholas Cage's "Drive Angry". But I fell apart the first 3 times I tried to watch this one, and haven't yet seen how they supposedly set up for a sequel in the end credits. How much is netflix charging for the privilege? |
OMG! I just watched this... plenty lol's. It has some of the worst acting, editing, plot etc... They didn't even cgi the right car. The 370z suppossedly crashes, but its a cgi 350z.
you gotta check out about 22 min in....epic. |

It's bad, but watchable and the plot is not as recycled as you might expect. It's OK. If you are a stickler for continuity, you'll have a field day. Warning: SPOILERS When the older brother wrecks the 370z in the beginning, the actual scene of the crashed car is of a 350z They keep referring to the younger brother's car as an "MX-7" -- it's actually an 80s Rx-7 FC, but when he goes to get the nitro, he refers to it as an RX-7 Some of the driving scenes of the RX-7 FC are actually of a 240SX. |

PG-13 strippers -- no free boobs in the clubs where they serve alcohol lol

It was a fun movie. I noticed the wrecks were all CGI ... no budget to wreck real cars :)
