...you're joking, right?

You have to be. You understand that, originally, only white males could vote in the US? You understand the rights of non-whites in America were not guaranteed at all until subsequent amendments were made? You understand that this is why laws in our country protect women and minorities?

Back on topic though, Top Gear UK -does- make fun of everyone. The thing is, they totally ragged on Mexico to the point of being awkward. It's a clear sensitivity. I mean, I love Top Gear (and I still do) but it was clearly a little "eh."

I would like to say that a war was fought that killed more Americans then any other war in history and those Soldiers fighting and dying were a vast majority of white people.

And even after slavery was abolished white people in the north continued to have indentured servants. Indentured servants white immigrants like my ancestors that worked in close the slave conditions and each generation built on the values that their parents pasted down.

I don't ever remember being given anything because I was white. But I see a lot of programs that give money and privilege to people because they are from a minority.

Typically when a majority of a race fights a war, the statistics reflect that.

The civil war (and slavery) were also not about race. It was about economics -leading- to slavery, which moved into us vs. them.

This discussion also has nothing to do with the civil war, so I'm sort of baffled as to why you're bringing it up.

It's funny that you bring up privilege though. You don't think you were given anything for being white?

This whole "white privilege" is a crutch to give people not to try to advance themselves. I've succeed and have what I have because my parents cared enough to push me through school. Their drive built traits in me tha have kept me advancing in my career. And I will push my kids the sameway.

By you making statements that I have what I have because I'm white takes away from all the hard work my parents did and I did.

Unless you are insecure about what you have, then it shouldn't take anything away. Likewise, having privilege doesn't mean that everything you have is because you are white. That's a strawman. I'm not arguing that. I'm arguing that you've been giving certain advantages in life because of your race and gender.

"White privilege" isn't some sort of made up thing. For what it's worth, there is also black privilege, straight privilege, male privilege and a host of others. It isn't a negative thing to have them.

They just are. You didn't ask for them. Neither did your parents. Having or not having a privilege does not mean you ask for handouts or deny them. It just is. There are certain advantages you have because of who you are. Being born in America (or anywhere else in the western world) could be seen as privilege.

Dude, historically, and cross culturally white people have a huge leg up on like everyone else.

That doens't mean you don't have to work hard -- it just means someone of a different background generally has to work substantially harder to get to the same rung.

And WTF is "black privilege"? Having a greater likelihood of possessing a big ****?

Seriously, if you are a white male you have so many advantages over everyone else, the only people you should be complaining about competing with are other white males. Gimmie a fvcking break.
