I wish they would use the fact that Alexandria is not far from DC, and the rest of the compounds would be within 20 miles or so. An episode of going to DC and full of zombies on the monuments or in the subway would be great.

Yeah, getting to see some urban mayhem is one hope I still have for Fear the Walking Dead. They've already gone from LA to Mexico, and they're headed back towards California.

I understand the logical reason for staying away from heavily populated areas, but it could make for some really cool episodes.

Plus they never have winter. It's either spring or summer.

I think my expectations are finally starting to level out after the premier. This episode wasn't any more exciting than the Carol/Morgan episode, the Daryl episode, or the Maggie/Sasha episode, but I found myself enjoying it more.

I think seeing Tara again was refreshing, since we haven't seen or hear from here since last season. Seeing Oceanside, which has only been referenced in the comics so far. It'll be interested to see how they use them later in the season. Tara kept her mouth shut talking to Rosita, but I don't think that'll last long.

The notion that Oceanside just "ran away" from Negan and were never found by him, is stupid....Once again, if New Alexandria is in Virginia, which it is....then Oceanside would be....oh about a three hour drive from there to get TO the ocean. I suppose Oceanside could be nest The Chesapeake bay someplace, or on the Potomac River. So Tara walking that far all alone with dead everywhere? Not plausible.

Good point, they are not Amazon Wonder Women. How could they help against Negan, and IF Negan was there before why did he let them keep any guns? Did they find a new cache? This whole show is losing its tightness of the storylines, they just seem to be throwing carp out there.

At this point I just want characters killed off. Give us a few root characters on the move and f*cking sh*t up. Tired of this "Find a safe haven!" Oh no this guy over here doesn't like it and wants to exploit it! Gotta fight a uphill battle! "We Won! But oh no! Our safe haven! Better find another one" *insert short walk around for two episodes "Oh look a safe haven! Oh Gosh, this guy doesn't like us..." Rinse.Repeat.FIN.

edit: hear to here cause Im retarded

I agree with you all the way. Most shows lose direction after 6 or seven seasons anyhow. Sort of like the Brady Bunch bringing cousin Oliver on the show.....

The walking dead is shooting themselves in the foot.
To their credit, the Negan scenes with Carl were pretty much verbatim. Overall, I have been pretty pleased with this season so far.

As to the foot shooting, the real problem is that the Walking Dead is not a story about people finding humanity and dignity during the trials of surviving the end of the world (AMC has been trying to inject that into the series from the beginning, and its a square peg problem).

The Walking Dead is a story about people being more monstrous than the apparent monsters - the undead -- who are, in the end, really no different than wild animals roaming around looking for food.

The Walking Dead is just not a warm and fuzzy kind of story. Then again, why would a zombie apocalypse story lift our spirits? That's not really what they're typically written to do.

They're supposed to make us feel claustrophobic and uneasy, apprehensive about what's around the next corner or lurking in the shadows creeping slowly up on you (well, overly fast zombies notwithstanding...)

If things continue, after the Negan story it will begin to get very, very good in terms of really complex ideas about what it means to live as a human being in a dead and desolate world... we're not quite there yet.

In any case, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is fantastic as Negan. If people turn away from the Negan/Savior "All Out War" story arc, they will never be able to endure the next one...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Negan's conversation with Spencer next week

Yo, so last nights episode was the first I enjoyed since this seasons premiere. But straight up if Negan had my son on his lap and was talking bout wasting my family I would make sure Lucille got to do one of her favorite things for one last time then bounce the city.

I agree that this was the best episode since the premier. We got to progress a lot of stories, some better than others, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan got to show of as Negan again. The mid-season finale looks to be a good episode as well. Hopefully we go into the break on a high note and keep the momentum going for the rest of the season.

Negan and Carl at the Savior's compound is pretty much, shot for shot, using the comic as a story board and the lines are almost verbatim.

Even the "My Only Sunshine" while Negan practices his swing is from the comic.

( Click to show/hide )

The only major difference is that Carl was all alone (not with Jesus) when he hopped in the back of the truck to get there and he was also (seemingly) much younger.

( Click to show/hide )

They also dialed down how he looked with the bandages of... he kind of looks like an apple with a bite out of it in the comic ...

( Click to show/hide )

And Negan does show a mix of being psychotic as well as tender... he's a kind and gentle sadistic killer

( Click to show/hide )

Negan is a genuinely scary dude. He can show emotion, but its usually hard to predict what he'll actually do... He can smile affably, walk right up to you, smiling, and gut you without blinking.
