GREAT freaking finale this season. All the rumors were pointing to one particular main character dying and they kept you guessing the whole time. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen the episode yet but man, this show just keeps getting better!

Really liked the finale, but I'm not sure it needed to be 90 minutes long. I felt like they could have condensed it into a normal episode and it would have been a little faster pace without losing too much in terms of the story.
Sasha continued to stay in crazy town and at this point I would have preferred she just stayed in the walker mass grave and been done. She seemed to be coming around towards the very end when Maggie stops her from killing Gabriel and they all start praying. Maybe Sasha and Gabriel will help each other stop being useless. I was hoping Glenn would have killed Nicholas (especially after he shot him) but I'm kind of glad he didn't. It shows that Glenn still has some humanity left and hopefully Nicholas will finally figure out that he's a tool and stop acting like one. Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite them in the ***. I am really curious how Glenn got away from all those walkers that we barreling down on him, though. Rick and Pete played out almost exactly like the comics and it was very satisfying to see it on screen. Dropping the dead walker in front of the meeting was a nice touch too, showing the people of Alexandria just how screwed they could be if people like Rick weren't around. We finally get to see the wolves (at least some of them) and they look like they'll definitely a source of conflict for the group. Their trap that Aaron and Daryl walked into was pretty ingenious, as was their means of resetting it afterwards. It'll be interesting to see if they are the TV equivalent to the Saviors or a new group all together. And hell yes Morgan is back! He's lost his crazy and now have this bad *** zen ninja thing going on. I hope we get to see a flashback showing what happened between Clear and Conquer. It'll also be interesting to see if the final scene will affect his view of Rick. He had just got done explaining to Aaron and Daryl that all life was precious only to walk in right as Rick is blowing a guy's head off.

"You know, I was thinking, how many of you do I have to kill to save your lives. But I'm not going to do that. You're going to change."
Unfortunately Deanna "changed" a few minutes later. The worst and the best Alexandrian died. I love this finale since I am not in mourning today ![]() |

Especially liked:
1. Limited deviance from comic storyline 2. Continuation of zombie kill shots that are a clear homage to George Romero (machete in skull, close up)
( Click to show/hide )
I didn't really like: 1. The choice to have everyone at gunpoint just to emphasize how very civilized and forgiving Rick's crew can be. 2. Carol. I get that she's popular, and she certainly keeps things... interesting... but she's too much of a powder keg, and the writers keep re-inventing her and her relationship to the others... I'm just sick of her. 3. Having Michonne's sword be used to kill Senator Monroe's husband. That added an unnecessary extra weight to Michonne's inner turmoil over wanting to hang the sword on the mantle vs. keep it on her, ready at all times, making it a more literal and less symbolic quandary, as originally intended. 4. The choice to have Father Gabriel go suicidal/homicidal on everyone -- it's created an unresolvable conflict in the plot. That means they'll either have to ignore it, waste time on resolving it, or kill him off. Either way, it would have been better if Aiden, or whatever his name is, had just left the gate improperly secured (in the end, that's kind of what he did anyway...) I have mixed feelings on: 1. Making Morgan a martial artist... I feel they did that specifically to put him on more even footing with Michonne
( Click to show/hide )
... it feels forced and unnecessary. 2. The Wolves (Scavengers in comic) weird and convoluted "trap"/base of operations (?) thing... they're making a big deal out of these guys, and I don't know if it can deliver without overshadowing future conflicts with
( Click to show/hide )
Still, all in all, a good season ![]()

I'm I the only one who's not really feeling the new format? Color present, black and white past, color present, black and white past, etc.

The Good: They are moving along briskly to the "Alexandria Safe Zone is Home" plot point.
The Bad: How they chose to tell it. Managing the herd was, at best, foreshadowing; at worst a red herring. All the action happens at the home base. And where did they find helium? Is it lights (e.g., flares) or sounds (e.g., gun shots, growling zombies) or both that draw the zombies? They couldn't even get their story straight. Terrible. The Optimistic: They will almost certainly introduce The Saviors and Negan by the season closer if not sooner. Sooner would be better since they already dealt with the minor revolt problem -- in flashback, no less. The Pessimistic: Their absurd way of drawing the story out in the opener, and telling it in a haphazard, overly stylized manner, does not bode well for the rest of the season. The Random: New season of Z Nation has been fantastic. Get your real zombie fan/horror punk/splatter punk fix there...

The Good: Helped me to take a nice nap. That was one of the worst episodes in recent memory. A total snoozefest.
For all that running amok of the Not-Savior gang (who were totally silly and utterly forgettable from the end of last season -- remember the zombie dance truck?) and the totally stupid and meaningless "JSS" thing (it should stand for "Just Shoot yourSelf"), they could have just combined last week's and this week's episodes and cut out all the utterly pointless parts -- of which there were many. One single lackluster one-hour episode would have been waaaaay better than a confusing mess of two and a half hours dragged out over two weeks. I'm exhausted. The Bad: Everything. They need to show me a guy in a biker jacket holding a barbed wire wrapped baseball bat within the next two episodes or I'm done with the show until they get the damn story back on track. All this random misdirection is poor storytelling at its worst. The Optimistic: I'm losing my optimism. The Pessimistic: They will probably make us endure a whole season of non-story like the "flu season". Ugh. Fight off the zombies. Secure home base. Move along... there's nothing to see here. Nothing. The Random: Would someone please kill Carol already? I'm sick of her. She Assassin Creed cosplayed her way through the whole episode -- when that's the best, most entertaining part of the whole episode (and, in my view, sadly, it was), you really have to ask yourself what is the point?

I enjoyed the episode this week but The Wolves randomly attacking the way they did with no explanation whatsoever was very confusing.

I think the writers are just stalling for time at this point... Even without comic spoilers, it's pretty easy to see where this season is headed... we already know the Wolves (or whatever they call themselves) are a small group -- vicious, but not an army and we have all seen the zombie herd making its way to Alexandria... Therefore: You have a basic natural disaster story now. Build up walls to keep out the storm, fend off the scavengers (what I seem to recall the wolves were actually called in the comic, FWIW). Then what? Well... again, no spoilers (like it matters), but either they all die or they fend off the herd and the looters and look off heroically into the sunset. Those are the only options. There's nowhere else for this to go. That's why the first episode was an hour and a half of shepherding the undead. There just isn't much depth or complexity to the story at this point. Its all about boarding up windows and counting ammo right now. Oh, and not making too much noise or whatever. Actually, the most interesting part was the near rebellion by Spencer (?), which is a fairly short set of events in the comic, but very dramatic, and AMC totally glossed over it in a B&W flashback ![]() Finally, although the Wolves might be a small group, they could be part of (or in competition with for survival) other, larger more organized groups. Hmmm... And no spoiler there. We already know there's other groups (e.g., The stupid Terminus group story arc, which they mercifully concluded fairly quickly). So, here's to hoping either everyone is killed defending Alexandria from zombies and looters (not likely, natch), or they wrap this "secure the home base" nonsense up quickly, and move along to the much more interesting, and complex stories that are just around the corner before season end.

I agree, I didn't really care much for the format of the attack. I wish they would have had more of a buildup and then hit the fight hard. Instead we got stabby stabby stabby, Carl and Enid chilling in a house, stabby stabby stabby, Alexandrians being *******, stabby stabby stabby, Morgan being a little bitch, stabby stabby HOLY **** LOOK AT CAROL GO!!

so am I just not remembering correctly or did Enid take photos of the compound last season, and they were found in one of the wolves bags at the end of the episode. I remember someone taking pictures, I think. I'm wondering if she was sent there for recon.
