Rick went to retrieve the gun he stashed (which was no longer there and somehow a walker was buried under the pile that was not there before) so he could conceal carry inside the wall in case something goes down. The bigger question is who took that gun? Was Enid watching them that far away from the town and took it for her own protection? Or could the 3 exiled men have taken it?

Ahhhh totally forgot about that.

Well last night's episode was a little slow/calm, but it was interesting. I haven't read the comics associated with early Alexandria in a while so I can't remember how many of these characters are brand new and how many cross over. The group is clearly on edge and still very weary of the promise of a safe haven. Even as they start to settle in believe that Alexandria may be everything it's people are claiming it to be they fear that staying will make them weak.

There a few questionable characters that I'm interested to see play out. Jessie's husband could definitely be end up with a conflict for Rick, especially after that strange late night porch sitting conversation during his walk.

Glenn and Aiden will probably continue to be at odds with one another as experience and seniority fight to determine how things should be done.

I'm also intrigued by Enid. She's lived outside the wall as well and seems to be having just as hard a time adjusting as Rick's group. Maybe I missed it last night, but why is she jumping the wall?

The final line from the now smooth shaven Rick was a good way to wrap up the feelings of the group. They are ready to give peace a chance, but will not let themselves get soft or be taken advantage of.

Overall, that played out exactly like in the comic -- only real changes were having Senator Monroe be a woman (although she was great in the role, so a good casting choice!) and the inclusion of Enid (not in comic).

The nonsense with Glenn and the douchey ROTC guy is not in the comic as I recall, but is parallel to what may happen soon with Abraham and another character (Tobin) when doing Safe-Zone duty, so its okay... it just sort of reaffirms the idea that we should expect some tension between the Safe-Zone folk and Rick's group -- which of course there will be.

The whole Jesse/Jealous husband thing definitely should be taken note of... that later kind of brings things to a head regarding Rick as compliant Safe-Zone citizen vs. sort of taking over...

All in all, AMC did a great job on this one -- they made a few changes and the alterations were either good (Mrs. Monroe), supported the general themes of the story line (Glenn's altercation) or did not negatively impact the story arc (Enid -- maybe to fill Sophie's shoes as a slightly unhinged friend to Carl, and who Maggie and Glenn may wind up adopting).

Way to go, AMC!

Ohhhh yeah... I missed that entirely.

Hmm. Enid is a TV show only character so who knows...? I predict she will fill Sophie's role, be adopted by Glenn & Maggie and a friend/sort of love interest to Carl.

The Dimer 03-03-2015 08:43 AM

I think you're right Jordo! Enid has got to be the one filling Sophia's role. I don't know if Glenn and Maggie will end up adopting her, but she'll definitely take over the part of Carl's companion.

Carol was downright scary last night.....telling that kid that walkers will eat him tied to a tree if he ratted on her for taking the guns. Also. what was Enid doing in the woods? What was she doing or going to? I've not read the comics, but I assume the Alexandria Safe zone is in them...and with three episodes left...things will get heated before the season ends. Back to Carol, from being an abused woman (tell it to the Frogs) to a true cold-blooded killer has been quite a transformation....

Jordo! 03-09-2015 06:47 AM

Carol is such a weird (and broadly mishandled) character... I'd take her actions with a pinch of salt. Although raiding the armory is indeed something they do.

I like the actor they have portraying Aaron and I think putting Darryl on "recruitment" duty makes a lot of sense. A good use of the characters, and a clever way to take advantage of each character's apparently somewhat strained role in the Alexandria Safe-Zone community (some of that is AMC's idea, as is the whole Darryl Dixon character, but i think it works).

They went with the newish girl as an "Andrea" sharpshooter replacement, so that works.

Otherwise, once again, minus a few incredibly minor deviations, they are pretty much just following the book -- and doing a good job of it.

Again, well done, AMC

Next week expect some friction between Tobin and Abraham... also, there's that Rick and married woman thing to keep an eye on... otherwise, at the risk of giving anything away... just how sturdy do all those walls look...?

Really, I'm just wondering if
( Click to show/hide )
Madam Monroe will be blasting half of poor Carl's face off when the walls come down...

Rick remains intact... be interesting to see how they handle it.

I don't think they will whack his arm off, it would take lots of CG and heavy production to have a 1 armed main character. I predict they won't do it.

Yeah, they took Merle's arm already and I always thought that was in place of Rick loosing him in the comic. So I don't expect anything to happen past that.

If they continue using the comic story line as closely as they have the past few episodes, Carl will definitely have his own important moments coming up but does fly under the radar for a little while.

I'm excited to see his story line come to the screen.

Noah got munched last night, gross! I suppose he also died in the comics?

HKYStormFront 03-16-2015 08:08 AM

I am full on #teamricktatorship in Alexandria now. So many "WTF?!" moments this episode in regards to how the people of this town behave when there is danger. Only two more episodes to go... Should be interesting how this plays out.

Also, I know the reverend is damaged goods but seriously, why would he say those things? Is he afraid that the others will tell her his "sins" of the past? That just seemed so bizarre to me. I want to see where this goes in the story but this feels like I'll be coming back to it in a few weeks and saying "this only happened because the plot needed it to happen" meaning they ran out of ideas on how to get our main group to face off with the Alexandria group (I'm guessing).

Noah wasn't in the comics so his fate was always in question, but Sasha isn't in the comics either and she appears to be in it for the long haul. I was a little more upset about Noah dying then I thought I would be. I had him pegged as cannon fodder as soon as he became a part of the group, but he was actually starting to show promise and looked to be a good addition after all.

Should have realized it when he was getting extra screen time and developing as a character. That's one of the things I hate about this show. They add a character giving them little attention at first only to cut them down as soon as they start to become more than a body in the background.
